What did my Blueberry Cake Donut candle smell like:
Goose Creek candles are fast becoming staple candles in my house. I am really enjoying this brand and the sales and oh my goodness are they are very- very hard to resist!! Every sale seems to be better than the next so trust me when I say that when you join their mailing list… their emails become dangerous to open. Dangerous to your pocket book and self control.
Next up for review… Blueberry Cake Donut. Need I say more? Any scent that has “donut” in it is immediately thrown in my cart… no questions asked. I don’t even have to read the scent description. It’s mine.
First impression… when I popped off the lid for the first time, I smelled a sweet blueberry but surprisingly, it wasn’t as “bakery” as I was anticipating. When I think of cake or a donut, I think of warm and yummy baked vanilla cake or dough. Yummy!! That’s what I want to smell with this scent and hoping that bakery goodness comes out once the candle is burning.

This flavorsome fragrance opens with fruity notes of apple, blueberry, and black raspberries. A rich heart of vanilla cake, milk, crystallized sugar, vanilla buttercream and musk.
Interesting description. When I first smelled the wax, I noticed sweet blueberry the most. I wasn’t picking up apple or raspberry and definitely not 
musk. I’m hoping all those elements come to life once the candle is burning. We’ll see.
Before I continue, I want to point out how much I loved the color of this candle… it was a deep and rich royal blue, almost purple and it was striking. I love burning dark candles, they glow so beautifully.
Okay, time to find out how this candle burns!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom which is a pretty huge room to start out. Goose Creek candles have always performed well in large rooms for me but I soon realized within the first few hours, this fragrance was a little on the lighter side forcing me to move it to a smaller room. The fragrance… a yummy vanilla cake with the perfect touch of sweet blueberries. Very nice! The bakery notes did come out once the candle started burning and it was yummy. The overall scent to me was cake and blueberries. Nothing else. I still liked it.
The scent however was very light. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 4 in a medium size room. It was not strong at all and that did disappoint me.
How did my candle burn?
My candle burned very well, No wick issues other than I had to stay on top of keeping both trimmed throughout the day, which is totally normal. My candle burned clean with no wasted wax.
Closing to my review:
I love bakery scents and did enjoy this fragrance… it was an authentic blueberry cake scent all the way. I just wish it would have been stronger. It was pretty lightly scented for me, even moving it to a smaller room so that did disappoint.
If you love blueberry scents and on the sweeter bakery side, you may like this candle. Definitely give it a try with their next sale, they have many.
