Introduction to my Bijou candle review:
I don’t even know where to begin other than to say I am completely mesmerized with this company.
Luxury candles are a pampering indulgence every candle lover should experience – even if only on occasion. What can I say? I’m in love. I love everything about luxury brands. – – The shopping experience, the look and feel of each candle… the packaging… the fragrances – and when you receive your order, it’s just as fun unwrapping beautiful layers of scented tissue paper in elegant and colorful boxes as it is burning the candles themselves. It’s all intertwined.
When I received an email from a marketing rep from Bijou asking if we would like to review one of their candles, I immediately went to their website to look around, not knowing anything about the company. The moment I entered their website, it was all sighs and heart palpitations – in a good way. Everything my eyes feasted on was pure elegance from the layout of soft pink and gray color tones to the stunning pictures of their candles. It drew me in and kept me browsing all their pages much longer 
than I expected.
Now let’s talk about their candles. One word – Exquisite!!! Stunning would be another great word to describe them. Bijou candles are elegant, soft, beautiful and above all… unique. These are candles you’ll want to proudly showcase at dinner parties or special events – they’re that pretty. The vessels are made of an unbreakable resin that reminds me of decorative low sitting vases that hold candy or various trinkets. I’ve never seen anything like them. These are also candles you’ll want to re-purpose, either to use for something in your home or even better… Bijou offers refills for their candles so if you love a specific fragrance or even if you just want to explore the many scents they offer, you can purchase their refills at a fraction of the cost. You simply place the refill in the base you already have and wallah! New candle. I love that idea because these are definitely candles you’ll want to reuse or save. You can also build your own Bijou candle by picking the color base, size, style and fragrance. What a lovely idea and what a great gift that would make as well.

Next came the hard part… deciding what to review and in the end, I literally couldn’t decide. So, I emailed Bijou and said…. surprise me… letting them choose. Usually when I do that, it’s often a better experience than if I picked the candles out myself and as I hoped… this proved true once again. I had no idea what they were sending me or if I would even like what they did. Thankfully… I did. When I received my package and opened the shipping box, I’m pretty sure there were more sighs and heart palpitations… I was very-very happy.
This is part of the experience I love by the way… the unveiling. The fragrance was the first to hit my senses. I smelled a
luxurious and powdery vanilla that reminded me of a delicate French perfume. Next came unwrapping the box and a smaller candle protected in bubble wrap. Bijou sent me an 8oz candle from their Boudoir Collection in the scent Bois de Vanille. Mmmm!!!! They also sent a refill candle wrapped in beautiful gray and pink decorative peacock paper in the scent Ambre 
Tubereuse, also from their Boudoir collection. The box the larger candle came in was equally as beautiful. The color was Ivory with decorative gold scroll work around the box. See picture to the right for visual reference. Once I opened it, the candle was securely nestled inside along with a lovely folded brochure on top listing all their fragrances with pictures of each candle. It also included instructions on how to clean out and reuse your gorgeous vessel once finished. Very thorough and nicely done.
My candle was off white with decorative patterns throughout the bowl. It was beautiful and elegant and something you have to visually see to really appreciate. The wax was off white and sported two centered wicks. SO PRETTY!!!! Time to light this beautiful candle up.
Here is the scent description for Bois de Vanille:
Deep woodsy notes are joined by sweet vanilla bourbon, lime and lily of the valley. Finished off with a hint of patchouli, this warm fragrance fills the bedroom with a warm, comforting scent.
Smelling the wax, it seemed pretty sophisticated and complex. It smelled powdery and fresh to me and I can see why the description calls for burning it in a bedroom. It was sultry… and very romantic and sexy. Definitely a bedroom scent.
I lit this beautiful candle in my large master bedroom and started noticing the aroma within 10 minutes of lighting it. After a solid hour… the fragrance traveled all throughout my bedroom, open bathroom and was even spilling beyond into my great room. So, the aroma was very strong and oh my goodness was it gorgeous! Bois de Vanille was just as it smelled cold… a sultry and romantic vanilla fragrance – it was also powdery and elegant all at the same time. I loved it!!
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 10. It was pretty strong. The aroma saturated my bedroom and then some. My husband even commented on it asking what I was burning. He didn’t say he liked or disliked it… just that is was mega strong.
How did my candle burn?
Perfect. The candle started out where I thought it would tunnel since the top of the wax was so wide but it soon righted itself and burned perfect and evenly. No wasted wax and clean burn.
Closing to my review:
I have to say this was by far one of the most beautiful candles I have ever burned. The entire experience was pretty amazing from receiving my package to burning the candle. I loved every moment of it.
The fragrance itself… Bois de Vanille was a complex vanilla that enraptured me from beginning to end. My only complaint… I would have loved this candle to have lasted much longer than it did. I could have burned it for weeks.
In closing, if you love luxury candles that are beyond beautiful, I highly recommend this brand. And amazingly, their prices are quite reasonable for a luxury candle line. $32 dollars for an 8oz candle isn’t bad at all and the refills are only $15.00.

This candle gets 5 stars across the board. Presentation was off the charts, the fragrance matched the description, burn performance was suburb and the strength was outstanding. LOVED!!
