Brand: Swan Creek Candle Co
Type: 12oz Pantry Jar
Fragrance: Barrel Aged Maple
Scent Strength: Light
First impression of Barrel Aged Maple:
The moment I smelled Barrel Aged Maple, I smiled and inhaled deeply. I was so glad I purchased this fragrance. The wax smelled like a buttery caramel with oodles of vanilla and something spicy. Super yummy!!
Here is the scent description for this fragrance:
Lush golden caramel, spun sugar and whipped buttercream combine with hints of amber, oak and bourbon for a rich, deep, complex maple fragrance experience – very warm and inviting!
Yep, my first impression was correct… YUM!! I smelled almost everything in that scent description and the spicy component I detected at first had to be the oak. My nose detected caramel, buttercream, sugar and oak. Not sure on the amber or bourbon but if it’s there, all the better.
I loved it! Now let’s see how this candle performs!
I lit this candle in a small room to start out and that’s where it stayed till the last drop of wax. Once the wick was lit, it took a good 30 minutes to reach a full melt pool but the scent was present long before that and it was delicious and just what I hoped it would be. A creamy and rich vanilla caramel with buttery notes and yep… I even smelled a touch of oak and maple. This wasn’t your average caramel scent. The spicy oak I could smell gave it a more rustic vibe and I really liked the effect. Caramel lovers, definitely give this one a try if you’re in the mood for something different than your average sweet caramel. I’ll be purchasing this one again for sure.
Strength – this wasn’t a super strong candle but did give a decent scent throw in a small room. I would rate it a 7 in a small room. 5 in a medium. Definitely go for their drizzle melts if you want to scent a larger room.
How did my candle burn?
This candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish. I did have to trim the wick once before each lighting but that’s pretty normal.
Closing to my review:
Loved Barrel Aged Maple and will for sure be purchasing this one again from Swan Creek… in candle and melt form. It’s a keeper and one you need to experience if you love caramel fragrances. Just keep in mind the candle itself was lightly scented so if you’re after power, try two candles at once or go for their drizzle melts instead. Scented melts are generally much stronger than candles.
Happy candle hunting!
