First impression of Banana Cabana:
I’m not generally a fan of banana scents but I actually smelled Banana Cabana at a Bath & Body Works store and really liked it. I waited for a sale and here I am! First sniff, this fragrance kind of reminded me of a cross between coconut suntan lotion and banana pudding. I know that sounds weird but in this case, it seemed to work. This candle smelled really good.
Banana Cabana is described as:
Sun kissed banana, sea spray, warm vanilla.
Smells about right but, where is the coconut? I swear I could smell coconut in this fragrance. Sugary banana’s and coconut suntan lotion. Vanilla – yes! The base of this scent is very creamy. That is vanilla all the way.
Time to light my candle!
I lit my Banana Cabana candle in a large bedroom and that’s where it stayed till I couldn’t take it anymore – hint, hint. The wicks lit right up, a melt pool formed in no time and the aroma… sweet and sugary banana, I still swear coconut and vanilla along with a healthy portion of crayons on the side. You know that distinctive waxy crayon smell? Also, and I don’t know why but this scent gave me an underlying headache. So weird. But, I stuck it out to make sure I wasn’t imaging it. Day two – headache. Day three – headache. After that, I was done. Up close to the candle, it smelled great. Sweet banana’s and suntan lotion. It’s when I was away from the candle and just smelling the air that the crayon element came into play and it was pretty strong. I didn’t like it.
Strength – I would rate Banana Cabana an 8 out of 10 in a really large room. 10 in medium to smaller rooms.
How Did My Candle Burn?
This candle burned fine. No wick issues. Clean burning for as long as I could handle it.
Closing To My Banana Cabana Review:
What a weird experience Banana Cabana turned out to be. I started out thinking I would love it and didn’t. But, just because I didn’t care for this candle doesn’t mean you will. I still suggest you smell it next time you’re in a Bath & Body Works store and see for yourself. It smells great on cold sniff, it was the hot aroma that eventually got to me.
