Candlefind Says

Sweet berry notes that are perfect for summertime.

Pros

  • Super easy clean up

Cons

  • Appears to work best in tealight melter (not necessarily a con)

Intro To My Wax Melt Review

It’s been a long while since I used any palm wax melts. I primarily use paraffin, soy, or a parasoy blend. I was tickled to try Baltimore Berry Blush from Destinations Scented Candles because I had forgotten how much fun palm wax can be. I love the crystalline pattern and wax clean up? Sooooo incredibly easy just to pop out the cooled wax from my melters. I recently reviewed the New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade candle from Destinations, so I figured it was high time to try out the wax melts.

First Impressions of My Wax MeltsDestinations Berry Blush Wax Melts

The wax melts from Destinations Scented Candles come in a plastic container with 6 star-shaped wax melts included. The color of these wax melts was a lovely light red, which made the crystalline pattern of the wax melts look that much prettier. The wax melts were shaped as what I can best describe like little snowflakes. The label on the front of the package clearly displayed both the company and scent names.

I got a light, fruity berry like smell when I opened the package and took a whiff. I love the scent descriptions from Destinations – they are very detailed! Here’s the one for Baltimore Berry Blush:

Baltimore has the nickname “Charm City” and happens to be where our company hails from! Baltimore is rich in history being the birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner, great places to see such as the National Aquarium and many cultural museums and then there is the food, sports teams, and festivals that draws millions of tourists each year. The inspiration for this candle, with the amazing aroma of berry blush wine, comes from a thriving wine industry that is growing and growing strong over the past 30 years. Restaurants, local wineries, and wine festivals featuring unique wines best symbolizes the melting pot of culture and tastes that makes up Baltimore. Baltimore Berry Blush is a company favorite as well as those who love to entertain and attend wine tastings or seek an upgrade from traditional spring and summer scented candles.

The scent description above is more of a concept, but it put me in the right frame of mind for this scent. I was anxious to see how this wax would play out when warmed.

In my experience, I’ve had better luck using a tealight melter for palm wax melts. I usually use electric hotplate melters or bulb melters, and that’s what I had at the time I was ready to test these out. I started out using 1 star in my smaller 24W hotplate melter, then later I used 2 stars in my larger, 20W hotplate melter. My results for both were about the same – I got a nice, pleasing berry-like aroma that was not quite as sweet as fruit punch. It was like red raspberries rolled in a little sugar. I didn’t detect any green notes – just berry goodness.

The throw on these was light and this was a lighter type scent. I decided I’d pull out my tealight melter to give these a try – voila! I got a much better throw using the tealight melter and one wax melt. The scent itself was still light, but I could smell the sweetness of what I thought were red raspberries and some strawberries. I could smell it on throughout a medium sized room and a little down the hallway.

How Did My Wax Melts Perform?

My scent throws were as mentioned above. The melts themselves lasted most of the day in my hotplate melter. In my tealight melter, I was able to burn through 3 tealights before I stopped detecting the scent. Popping out the cooled wax was super easy, so bonus points for that.

Closing To My Wax Melt Review

My Baltimore Berry Blush palm wax melts were fun and fruity, great for a summertime treat. I do think I had much better results using a tealight melter for these. If trying these palm wax melts, I’d certainly try it both ways and so you can see what your results might be. In the meantime, I’m ready for Destinations Scented Candles to take me to more faraway places!
