Intro to my review of 2 new scents from Yankee Candle…

I think I mentioned in a recent review that I went on a big candle shopping spree a few weekends ago. I was looking for candles from some of the big-name candle companies to review and of course I had to pick up some Yankee Candles since they’re the great behemoth of the candle world. I’m determined to start posting more reviews of their scents because of their popularity. I’m not a big fan of their candles… I just haven’t tried enough of them yet to make up my mind completely, but I’m going to start burning more of them to test. Ok…back to my shopping spree…

In one of the quaint gift shops I was in, I found a votive display of new Fall and Winter scents from Yankee. If one thing’s for sure, Yankee just loves to crank out new scents to catch our attention. After doing my usual sniffing, I chose 2 of their newest creations…Autumn Wreath and Mandarin Cranberry. I’m hoping I’m the first one to introduce you to these new scents from the Candle Goliath also known as Yankee.

How did my votives from Yankee Candle smell?

Autumn Wreath:

I picked this votive up in the store and took a whiff because of it’s name. I guess I got excited about how seasonal it sounded. My goal is to always add timely seasonal reviews to CandleFind, so I figured a scent called Autumn Wreath would be perfect. I do feel like this review of Autumn Wreath might be a little late in coming for some of you. I’m talking to those of you who are already listening to Christmas music…Yes, You! 🙂 Call me crazy, but I can’t do that until Thanksgiving is over with. To each his
own of course! 🙂

Anyway, I’ve been burning my Autumn Wreath votive in my small powder room downstairs. Every time I go in there, I have been loving this scent! It’s a hard one to describe, but PERFECT for Fall. If I had to capture the scent of Fall and put it in a bottle, this is what it would smell like.

When I first burned my Autumn Wreath votive and the scent started to fill the air, I knew I loved it, but couldn’t tell you what Cinnamon Applethe scent ingredients were to save my life. So, I hopped on my laptop and shot over to YankeeCandle.com to find out. Here’s the description I found:

A cheerful fall welcome in the spicy warmth of autumn leaves and cinnamon apples.

I thought it was so cool that they tried to bottle the smell of autumn leaves and pour it into candles! I was just out in our backyard the other day playing with my dog in the leaves. Once in a while, I would get a big whiff of the crunchy leaves underfoot. I kept telling my hubbie how much I loved that smell. I’ve never seen another candle company with this scent so this is a first for me. I really love it!

It may not smell totally authentic like the autumn leaves that are dancing around in your yard, but Yankee did their best to pinpoint that cozy aroma. I can also smell the cinnamon apples as well. All three ingredients blend so well creating that cozy smell of Fall for all of us to enjoy. It does remind me of an Autumn wreath too or a wonderful Fall potpourri when I breathe in the scent.

The scent strength of my votive was too light for a larger room in my home, but just perfect to fill my powder room with it’s aroma. In order to enjoy an Autumn Wreath votive, I definitely recommend you burn it in your powder room, but not in a room much larger… it just doesn’t have the power to fill a bigger room. I’m sure that this scent in one of Yankee’s big jars would be a different story though.

One more thing before I move on to Cranberry Orange… Yankee’s website says that Autumn Wreath is only available for a limited time, so I would grab it while you still can. I don’t burn Yankee Candles enough to know if  limited time means they’ll be bringing this scent back in the future or not.

My review of Mandarin Cranberry votive from Yankee Candle…

One of the popular scents for this coming season that I’ve been wanting to review is cranberry. It’s hard not to think of cranberries when you think of Thanksgiving and Christmas…I doubt there’s a house around you that won’t be serving cranberry
sauce with their Thanksgiving feast. I love the real kind…you know, the one that’s shaped like a can! 🙂 Anyway, when I saw mandarin-cranberry-candlethis new Mandarin Cranberry scent from Yankee, I thought I’d use this candle for my cranberry review this season. It’s cranberry with a twist.

After burning my Mandarin Cranberry votive a few times, I decided I like this new scent from Yankee Candle too. Neither the mandarin, nor the cranberry dominate the fragrance. Both “ingredients”‚¬ are well balanced creating a lively blend of sweet and tart.

My mom was over this past weekend when I was burning this votive in my powder room, so as usual, I asked her what she she smelled. She couldn’t figure out what she was smelling. She said… I like it. It smells good…I just don’t know what it is. I wanted to share her vague opinion with you to show you how this scent is not overly orange or overly cranberry. It’s just a fun, fruity, tangy scent that has a seasonal flare to it.

Mandarin Cranberry would be a wise choice to burn during the holidays for those fruity lovers out there. It’s a nice seasonal alternative to the usual Pine or Christmas Cookie scents.

The scent strength on this votive is exactly the same as my Autumn Wreath candle…perfect for the powder room, not enough for a family room or kitchen. If this scent sounds good to you and you want to enjoy it while you’re relaxing in your favorite chair, go with a jar from Yankee Candle instead.

Overall opinion of my scented votives from Yankee Candle:

Overall, I give Yankee Candle 2 thumbs up for coming up with Autumn Wreath and Mandarin Cranberry. As usual, the scent strength with their votives is light, but if you burn them in your powder room or small bathroom, you’ll be able to enjoy these scents just fine.closing to my review

If you’re into warm, cinnamon-ie, earthy scents, go with Autumn Wreath. If you’re a fruity/tart fan, I think you’ll enjoy Mandarin Orange. Remember…if you’re interested in Autumn Wreath, grab them now while you can since their site says this scent is only available for a limited time. Happy Shopping and Smelling!

Carolyn 🙂
