Intro To My Candle Review
I’ve been having fun being taken away to far away places with Destinations Scented Candles, so it was game on for their Australia Koala Kiss candle. I have yet to venture to Australia (it’s on the Bucket List) and I’ve only seen a real live koala in a zoo. What exactly could this candle smell like? Time to unravel the mystery!
First Impressions of My Candle
This was another 10 ounce candle with a chrome lid. This time the wax was a leafy, sage green color and there were two thin wicks that were well placed. The label showed an adorable mama koala bear protecting her young in her own habitat. The scent name and company name were clearly displayed on the label, which you could remove if you wanted.
On cold sniff, I got a lot of soft green notes with a hint of minty freshness. Mmmm…it smelled refreshing and invigorating! Looking at the scent description, I found:

This scented candle perfectly captures this popular travel destination with the familiar aroma of eucalyptus – a popular food of koala bears, with a touch of mint. A great scent spring and summer and makes a great gift for those who love Australia!
I lit this candle in a guest bedroom and let it do its thing. It started giving off that smell of fresh mintiness right away. The scent was invigorating and relaxing at the same time. No harsh or sharp notes. The scent of mint was met by some sweet greenery that made it seem like the fresh outdoors. This was not a harsh minty scent – it was a little more mellow and sweet. I thought that was a great choice for this candle…like sweet little koala kisses!
I found the scent moderately strong and the scent did well to freshen up the room it was in. It stayed fairly contained in this space, which was perfect for this type of scent.
How Did My Candle Perform?
Since burning my New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade candle, I did have a discussion with the owner and realized I was not burning my palm wax candle the right way. The palm wax does burn a little bit differently and the wax “rings” I was experiencing was totally normal for this type of candle. Following the instructions, I let this candle continue to burn and didn’t mess with the shelves of wax that were first appearing. As the candle continued to burn, that ‘shelf’ became less and less and I only had a small residual rim on some of the walls. Neat! I also noticed that as more of that shelf melted, the throw from the candle got better, so this particular candle got stronger the longer it burned.
This was another clean burning candle – no black soot noted. It also had a super slow burn, making the magic last and last.
Closing To My Candle Review
It’s been so long since I’ve burned palm wax candles, I forgot what I was missing out on! It was good to have a reminder about the burns, as all wax does not behave the same. This Australia Koala Kiss candle was fresh, crisp, and green…such a joy to burn! Destinations Scented Candles has a number of other choices that really all sound intriguing.
