Aromatique is one of those companies that I always love having in my back pocket. The fragrances are amazing and the quality of the products are unparalleled. The Aromatique Valencia Orange candle is one of my absolute favorites, and I am surprised we don’t have a formal review for it up on the site yet. Time to rectify that situation!
Valencia Orange, Aromatique
There are a number of options when choosing the Aromatique Valencia Orange candle. For this particular review, we focused on the smaller textured glass candle jar, which is simply breathtaking. The texture to the glass makes it feel extremely luxurious and adds a bit of extra ambiance when the candle is burning. There is no candle lid on this candle style, though, which is a bit of a bummer. There is a protective dust cover that keeps the candle top clean, which was appreciated. The signature ‘A’ emblem was on the front of the jar.
The cold sniff of my Aromatique Valencia Orange candle was all about the orange-y goodness. It was citrusy and sweet. Looking at the scent description:
A bright, zesty fragrance of sweet oranges mixed with notes of apples and red berries with a hint of citrus peel
Yes – spot on! Once the candle was lit, I was truly blown away by the authenticity of this orange fragrance. It did not smell like a harsh cleaner, like some orange scents turn into. It was a sweet, juicy fragrance that reminded me of having a ripe, freshly peeled orange in front of me. Amazing! There were bits of citrus peel in that the scent was sometimes more tangy – not too sweet.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
The strength of my Aromatique Valencia Orange candle was pretty strong – it was not the kind of scent to singe nosehairs, but it did make its presence known for sure. There was no mistaking the beauty and intensity of this fragrance once it was lit, and then even after it was snuffed out!
As far as scent throw, it was fantastic! I could smell the fragrance in a medium sized bedroom and then wafting a bit on down the hall. If scenting a large, open space, I could see needing two of these (one on each opposite side) primarily due to the size.
My candle was a super slow burner. I mean: super….slow. It took it several hours to get an almost full wax melt pool. I even used the foil trick to force the full pool a little faster. The melt pool was fairly shallow but even. I noticed a little black soot if I kept it burning for too long. I needed to keep the wick trimmed about every couple of hours and that kept my burn all soot-free.
I absolutely loved my Aromatique Valencia Orange candle! It was incredibly pretty to look at and even more beautiful to burn. I think if starting one of these candles it’s best to have plenty of time set aside for the initial burn. It will take a long time to get that full wax melt pool and to maximize the enjoyment of these candles. This classic fragrance from Aromatique is one of my favorites and will be a staple in my home for years to come!
Aromatique was the birthchild of Patti Upton, as she blended high end fragrances with decorative botanicals, creating the most wonderful smelling potpourri to give as gifts. The company and brand has expanded to include affordable and luxurious candles, wax melts, aroma cards, and more. While the home base remains Heber Springs, Arkansas, this elegant company is now known around the world.
