Apple Ale – from Bath & Body Works

Introduction to my Apple Ale scented candle from Bath & Body Works:

Have you had a chance to try any of the new Fall scented candles from Bath & Body Works yet? You must and soon.. they are awesome!! They have plenty of scents to warm your home and fill it with amazing aromas from a huge variety of Pumpkin scents to spicy bakeries to a slew of apple scents.

One fragrance I love to burn during the fall and winter and never tire of… apple scents! When I saw Apple Ale… I didn’t even read the scent description… I immediately put one in my cart. Hitting their 2 for $22 sale always makes it that much easier to take the plunge and if you’re lucky enough to get a 20% off coupon on top of that… well, you scored! And that’s what I did. I pretty much bought one of everything. WOOT!!!!

This review centers on Apple Ale… a spicy apple cider scent with heavy notes of cinnamon.

What did my Apple Ale candle look like?

When I first saw this candle, I loved how it looked. It looked like a homespun jar on the shelf of a country store. It was still their standard 3 wick large jar but the lid is what set this candle apart from the others. The label on the face of the candle showed apples in the background with a washed out vintage kind of mug in the center. Very “country” and simple. My favorite part… the lid. It was a brushed chrome with Bath & Body Works embossed in the lid with a half of a blazing sun below it… then below that was a 1X3” label with the scent name and a cute owl to the left.

What did my Apple Ale scented candle smell like?

Cold sniff…. Wonderful, it smelled so spicy and warm!! I couldn’t wait to light this candle!! Here is the scent description from Bath & Body Works site:

“Refresh yourself on a fall day with an effervescent blend of autumn apples, brown sugar and cinnamon bark”

I was totally expecting a plain mulled cider when I bought this candle. It wasn’t. As soon as I popped open the lid to smell the wax, strong apples and cinnamon notes hit my nose. Strong! This candle is SOOOOO utterly perfect for fall in every way. It’s sweet and spicy and so cozy and warm, you want to wrap yourself in a blanket and snuggle up to this scent filling the air.

As soon as I lit this candle, it didn’t take long before I began to notice the fragrance. Mmmmm!!! Apples and cinnamon on steroids! It’s like walking into a country store and breathing in that one of a kind cinnamon scent with the perfect touch of apples. That’s what it reminded me of. Also noting for the record, my hubby *really* liked this one. He commented on it each day I had it burning. He noticed cinnamon the most and I had to agree. I wasn’t really detecting a whole lot of brown sugar or sweetness… this scent was all cinnamon with a healthy dose of apples. YUMMY!!!!

How did my Apple Ale candle burn?

Perfect! I had to keep all three wicks trimmed till about half way down the candle and then they tapered down to perfect flames. Clean burn, no wasted wax.

Closing to my review:

Another great candle from Bath & Body Works and I totally recommend this one if you love spicy apple scents. Now the trick will be getting a hold of one… this scent goes in and out of the candles listed on Bath & Body Works’ site.

And when you’re ready to take the plunge, don’t forget to check for sales… they run quite a few 2 for $22 sales on their 14.5oz candles so if you can, wait for one of those to start shopping. They’re worth the wait!
