My introduction to Treble And Flame Candle Company was a good one, indeed. This black-owned business serves up 100% soy candles with a curated playlist for a multi-sensory experience. We’ve covered the general overview of this company and now we’re taking a deep dive into each one of the products we tested. First up is their Almeda candle, which came with an alternative R&B playlist.
Almeda, Treble And Flame
This Almeda candle was their 8 ounce size candle, which is the largest size offered at this writing. The jar had a beautiful label on the front, with the company and scent names clearly displayed. The label was all black and the scent name was in this cool script font. It gave off this luxurious kind of vibe. On the label were also the words “Inspired by Alternative R&B.” The candle had a black, screw top lid and the wax was such a beautiful, rich blue color. There was a single wick that was well placed. It was on the shorter side but did need a little bit of a trim before lighting.
This candle had a nice, soft, ozone-y smell to it on cold sniff, with a hint of being a little perfume-y. Looking at the website scent description:
With scents reminiscent of an ocean breeze, hints of sea salt, jasmine and vanilla, this premium scented candle is guaranteed to put you at ease. Couple this classic scent with our perfectly curated playlist and you’ll find yourself dreaming of a Florida sunset. Until you can get there, let us take you, at least for a moment. Almeda.
I could definitely get the ocean breeze from this scent and probably the floral jasmine, which was edging it on the perfume-y side. I turned to my playlist, which included a little over an hour worth of music. I hit play and was ready to roll! The alternative R&B list did not have songs I would have chosen myself, but they were a funky kind of R&B that I really loved. As the music played, I was able to start enjoying the soft scent of ocean air and just a hint of floral from the jasmine. The warmer vanilla notes rounded out the scent and made it a little more full-bodied. I’m not sure I could pick out the woodsy notes, but it was still a very good mix.
Scent Strength & Scent Throw
This particular fragrance was a lighter one, but it did carry a really good scent throw. I used this candle in a medium sized bedroom and was able to enjoy the fragrance in that space as a relaxing, almost spa-like scent. The aroma was pleasing and relaxing without being overbearing. I could smell it as I bypassed the room going down the hallway if I kept the door open.
The Almeda candle had a nice, clean burn. I did trim the wick just a tad before burning it the first time. The flame was nice and steady, not too big but large enough to do the trick. The candle took a long time to get a full wax melt pool – several hours, in fact. I did get a good size melt pool and it was gorgeous! Such a rich, deep blue that was perfect for this watery scent.
I didn’t notice any black sooting with this candle. Nice and clean. I did need to snuff it out every few hours to trim the wick and there were a few mushrooms at the tip. This candle had a super slow burn – I’ve already burned it for several hours and still have quite a bit of candle left!
I’ve been impressed with Treble and Flame from the very beginning. The curated music playlist is just an added cherry on top. The Almeda candle was a softer fragrance that was able to whisk me away while the music played. I thoroughly enjoyed this candle and this brand is now on my radar. We will be back with more reviews soon!
About Treble And Flame
Treble And Flame is based out of Tampa, Florida, run by a husband-wife duo: Damarces and Lakivia Sharkey. The two were college sweethearts who went on to get married and start a family. Typical American story, you say. Not for these two. They loved music…they loved candles…but they didn’t love the idea of bringing potential toxins into their home with their beautiful baby girl. They married the idea of the sense of sound and the sense of smell into one and came up with the notion behind Treble And Flame – 100% soy candles complete with a custom musical playlist, to create a multi-sensory experience.
