Introduction to my Adair Ya Review:

The Southern belle in me was excited to be able to review this candle company from Arkansas.  Sara Adair, owner of Adair Ya Very Fine Candles and Gifts, has created something special over the past few years (founded in 2008). You can get that feel just by visiting her website. It’s fun, it’s a bit funky but most of all, it’s beautiful. And so are these candles, which I was soon to discover. But I’m getting ahead of myself!

I enjoyed visiting the website as the blues and browns are quite soothing. There is some animation, too, to keep things a bit lively. The website was extremely easy to navigate ”“ something I’ve come to appreciate after visiting hundreds and hundreds of websites. You can easily find the candle selections, which have grown since my initiation of this review. There are the classic clear jar candles which have a beautiful simplicity in design (9 oz, 15 oz). There are also vessel candles, which are the same wonderful candles housed in ceramic containers which have been handmade in Arkansas. The color that caught my eye was from the newly offered colored glass candles. Stunningly beautiful! For this review, I am reviewing a 9 oz clear glass candle in Turkish Delight and a 15 oz tulip jar candle (Aromatic Wonder) in Red Currant.

Adair Ya scented candle reviewWhat did my candles from Adair Ya look like?

The candles arrived without any hiccups and were perfect right out of the box. The large 15 oz candle was wrapped in cellophane and sealed with a pretty raffia tie. The jar was what I refer to as a tulip jar ”“ narrow base and widening up toward the top. I love these type of candles as they have very wide ‘mouths’ and tend to throwAdair Ya scented candle review scent well. This jar was triple wicked… much needed for this size and style.

The 9 oz candle was a simple round glass jar with a thick bottom and a single wick. This candle came in a cute brown box with a decorative label on front, identifying the company and scent name clearly. The wax for both candles was a creamy off-white color. The jars were clear and simply adorned with the logo and the words Adair Ya visible on one side. The warning label was tucked neatly underneath, which is where the scent name was found. These candles did not have labels on the side you could remove. The logo and wording were ‘painted’ on and an integral part of the design. I suppose if one really wanted just the clear jar, the logo and wording could be scraped off but it really didn’t bother me in the least. I only mention it because I know some of my candle-loving friends like seeing nothing but the clear glass and candle.

What did my candles from Adair Ya smell like?

Turkish Delight

Since writing this review, I do not see this scent offered from Adair Ya. I did locate a scent description from Fragrance Finder, which I thought might be helpful to share:

“Delicious double milk chocolate encases this hidden jewel of raspberry and rose filling which combines and enhances the flavor of rich chocolate.” Turkish Delight

Mm-mm… I’m drooling already! I started this candle out in my powder room as is my norm. I like to see how candles will do in this smaller space as we are getting to “know” each other. What did I discover with this candle? The powder room was a perfect space for it! The throw was moderately strong and delicious. The chocolate notes were quite prominent ”“ not heavy, but more creamy and smooth. Chocolate scents are hard to pull off in a candle without getting fakish or burnt notes. Not so here. There were also some delectable fruity notes woven throughout. I couldn’t definitely say it was raspberry, but a berry-type scent for sure. It lightened things up a bit and I think made the entire scent linger in the air. I would call this scent both delicious and unique. A dessert-type scent for sure without being sickeningly sweet. I did not bring this candle out of the powder room because I could not see it scenting a larger space. It was very good, but this candle size and scent combination was more suited for the smaller space.

Red Currant scented candle review from Adair Ya

Red Currant

“A crisp and refreshing blend of red currant.”

Currant scents to me are so crisp, clean and refreshing. The cold sniff on this candle did not disappoint… an energizing burst of tartness filled my nose. I just knew I was in for a treat! I lit this candle and left it in the powder room per protocol. It was not long before the scent greeted me from underneath the testing room door. The scent did overpower that room so I moved the candle to a medium sized room, which it filled nicely. This was an authentic red currant scent without being too harsh nor was it sweetened up to smell like sticky candy. I could see this candle having a grand presence around the holidays or any other time you feel like some zing!

Candle flameHow did my candles from Adair Ya burn?

Aaaahhhh… I love, love, LOVE low-maintenance candles! I get to enjoy all the pleasure without much pain. I would classify Adair Ya Candles as low-maintenance for sure. Very clean burns, no mushrooming or smoky wicks. It did not take long to get full melt pools with these candles (longer with the larger 15 oz candle, of course) and I never experienced any tunneling. Having three wicks for the tulip jar was essential and it burned very well. The 9 oz jar was more tall than round, so you will need the proper tools to get down in and trim the wick once it burns so far. If you have a typical wick trimmer, it should not be a problem. Those who use regular scissors might experience difficulty getting down into the jar.

Closing to my review:

I thoroughly enjoyed burning these candles from Adair Ya. Their Loved these candles!! Adair Ya scented candle review.soy-paraffin blended candles come in a good range of scents which I would love to explore even more. My personal preference would be for the 15 oz Aromatic Wonder jar but I think the 9 oz jars would be perfect for smaller spaces. Adair Ya also offers unique reed diffusers, which appear as beautiful works of art. I’ve checked out their Facebook page and it appears they also carry melts and travel tins! I wouldn’t hesitate to give this place a try. Go ahead… ”I dare ya”!

Until my next scent challenge
