Introduction to my review:

If you haven’t been too inspired with Bath & Body Works candles this summer… you aren’t alone. I haven’t been really “wowed” this year myself. Maybe it’s part annoyance when they launch a scent and you have a few weeks (if that) to buy it and then POOF… it’s gone when you want more. Call me spoiled but I like accessibility. Or, my other pet peeve – burn performance. The majority of candles I’ve been burning this year are still having wick issues.

On a happier note… there is a gem to be had for fruity/tropical scented lovers. Sunset Beach is my latest acquisition from Bath & Body Works and I’m definitely going back for more… this scent is tropical, sweet and very summery.

What did my Sunset Beach candle look like?

Size – 14.5oz – large 3 wick candle. The wax color was pure white.

This candle is really pretty. The glass is frosted white instead of clear glass and has a paper type cover that sits over the wax instead of a standard lid. There is no label on the candle at all so the paper cover serves as the label – which shows a surfer on a beach at sunset. Very nicely done… see picture for visual reference.

What did my Sunset Beach candle smell like?

Let’s start off with the scent description from Bath & Body Works website:

“Summer evenings just got sweeter with pineapple, papaya & sugarcane fragrance.”

First impression… the wax smells very tropical and sweet… like a tropical smoothie drink you want to sip by the pool.. And interestingly… there was a different scent description on the bottom label of the candle… it reads:

“The sweet fragrance of easygoing days at the beach filled with fruit pops, sugarcane and sunny days.”

Hmmm… which to go by? After burning this candle a full day… I like the second description best… fruit pops and sugarcane. This scent (cold sniff) didn’t really smell like pineapple. It smelled fruity but nothing my nose could pinpoint directly. Fruit Pops… for sure. This is a scent you can sink your teeth into. It’s fruity and sweet… refreshing and very summery.

Scent throw – on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this a 7. It wasn’t “in your face” strong but I definitely noticed it the moment I walked into my large bedroom.

How did my Sunset Beach candle burn?

My candle burned PERFECT!! Thank goodness! No drowning wick issues with this candle. The flames stayed nice and strong from beginning to end. I even had to trim all three wicks a few times. A+ on burn performance.

Closing to my review:

I really enjoyed Sunset Beach. It was a light and summery tropical scent that freshened up my bedroom perfectly. I liked it enough to purchase it again (on sale.)

The only negative I can add to this review and it’s a small one… with three wicks, these candles burn really fast. When I review a candle, I burn it from beginning to end and although this candle burned perfectly… it just didn’t last very long.

If you love tropical scents, definitely try Sunset Beach and you better hurry… this is a seasonal scent and may be gone before you know it. With candles at Bath & Body Works… you need to be quick.
