These are photos from last Halloween, but since the subject of Lathers & Lights came up...I thought I'd repost these triple twist scrubs.

Jules, those are the prettiest scrubs I have ever seen! Did you use all of those? They look quite huge! It would take me 100 years to use all of that up...lol.

Heaven help me!

Okay, this is a confession/question coming:

I probably don't need to know this, but since I've NEVER used a scrub (confession)
can you enlighten me? Face? All over body? Does it hurt (sugar sounds painful)
(there! that was Confession-1/Question-3)

Hang on PayPal, I think it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

I use scrubs on my body, but usually skip the parts that have the softest skin, such as my belly. I would not use most etailer scrubs on my face, unless the description specifically says it is for the face. Most are not for the face. Scrubs don't hurt, unless you get the ones that say "super scrubby" or "large grain". I believe "turbinado" is another red flag word for a scrub with very large, stiff sugar crystals. Someone else will have to verify that.

When the skin is already wet, especially when using warm water, the sugar ( or salt ) in most scrubs starts to immediately melt or dissolve. Some scrubs foam up like soap and some dissolve into a lotiony consistency. Some don't turn into anything and the product just disappears. When you scrub, you take the product and rub it into your skin in a circular motion, using slight pressure to sandpaper away any dead skin cells on your body. After using scrubs for a couple of years, my skin feels as soft as a baby (except for my feet! hmmpppfff).

There are two main types of scrubs:

Clean rinsing does not leave any type of residue behind on your skin

Oily scrubs leave your skin feeling as if you used a body oil. The skin remains slightly greasy after your bath or shower. I actually prefer these scrubs because the oils that remain tend to make the scent of the scrub stick around longer after your bath and if you layer with the same scent in a lotion and perfume, your scent remains longer. However, I usually don't use oily scrubs in the summer.

Hope this helps a bit!

I love the foaming sugar scrubs...they get all bubbly! :)

I must CONFESS that the first time I used a regular scrub I put it on my face... [smilie=th_yellow5] ..ouch! My face got as red as [smilie=th_LOVE] except it wasn't feeling like a heart...at all!!!

Chortle-lay-hee-hoo!

I'd like to know some good ones of the "oily" kind, something that keeps a scent for awhile.
Thanks!!

The emulsifying sugar scrubs (sometimes called Sugar Exfoliant)
are my favorite scrub. Very gentle to use and the scent remains for hours. Not sure what types of scents you like. If you are looking for fruity, try Imp. Twice is Nice and Vice are very popular, too. For a deep peach with an incensy background, I love Peach Mama. If you want something for the season, click on the link for Parkin, which is a gingerbread scent. You can get small sample sizes to try before you commit to a larger jar.

If you place an order here, make sure you also throw in a sample size of their pumpkin butter.

There are other companies with oily scrubs. If none of these scents interest you, I;m sure we can all steer you in the right direction. Off the top of my head, Lilypad offers this type of scrub, too.

Love love LOVE Gloi scrubs. Good rec Boogie.

Laurie, Gloi scrubs are incredible and one of my favs. Snow Wolf is another great scent... that is really unique and I think a scent you would love. It's fresh with almost a black pepper background scent. It is my absolute favorite. [smilie=th_slider_flirt]

I thought of another moisturizing scrub~ Mad City Sue ( on Etsy ). You can't go wrong with these scrubs. Sue ships superfast and the prices are good.

great tutorial Boogie...I love scrubs but haven't been using them much during the summer. It's time to check out my stash box and break out a new one.
