On another message board I visit that has nothing to do with candles, the regulars there have a nice custom they have done for several years. When a regular posts that they are having a bad problem, usually with a health issue for themselves or for someone close to them, they request they need "some Blue" from the other regular posters. Some share why they need the Blue, some do not, just request "some Blue."
The regulars keep a blue candle on hand just for this purpose -- it of course, also can be a white candle in a blue glass holder, or a blue column candle, etc. Members light the blue candle at their own house, usually for 2 or 3 days for the member (not when they aren't home or thru the night but at least for 2 or 3 hours) although if it is a special request some say they will light it every day until someone is better if it is a real crisis.
Do not know if anyone here would be interested in this little custom but it seems a thoughtful little thing to do among Net friends who are in a little community of sorts.
What does everyone else think?
Patsy

I'd gladly participate! Though it means finding a blue candle/holder. More shopping! [smilie=th_00000020]

I don't do candles ever since my cat caught her tail on fire but would gladly get a blue tart holder to use just for these special request.

Thank you for answering, ladies. I think a blue tart would be perfect for anyone who does not use candles any more. (My daughter's cat had an accident with one of her candles too so she cannot burn candles anymore either.)
Over the next month we can look for something blue and just store it with our candle things. Then if someone posts that they or someone they are close to is not doing so well we can just offer to "send them some Blue." Because some of you will be real busy with the tart swaps, this should just be easy to do and not interfere with your other "burning issues."
Thanks again for responding.

Count me in Patsy--I will be one of the blue tart people or a blue burner whichever. Just let us know when to start. Nancy [smilie=th_FULL_O17]

Great idea! I'm in. Another newsgroup (about cats) I am on does the same thing only instead of burning a candle, they send purrs. To me it is like praying and if that many people are praying for someone or something, it's bound to make a difference.

Nancy - the best time to start is when someone posts they are having a big problem of some kind. Then we could just say -- somethng like -- "Sending blue your way" in a reply post. Or maybe start a thread titled "XXX Needs Some Blue" in this section of the Forum? I think if we keep it simple people will catch on to it.? So anyone on this thread who wishes to look for something blue to burn, and to save it for when a Candlefind member states they have a problem, then any of us should just feel free to start a blue going -- is that o.k.?

Yes I would do this for anyone that needs some blue! I have a lot of blue candles, and my favorite is blueberry cobbler.

I think it's a great idea. It'll be a reminder for me to pray for that person. Now, to find some blue candles/tarts/warmer, etc. Oooh, like I need to do any more shopping. LOL!

Great idea, Wildfire. Would you mind finding the post where Boogie mentions her dad's illness and tell her we're starting some blue for her, please -- since you were thoughtful enough to think of her. You could tell her to reference "Hodge Podge" if she needs to find out what The Blue is all about. I do not have a blue candle yet but I just received some blue melts and I can use them in my solid blue tartwarmer. Will burn it all day tomorrow for Boogie's dad. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness Wildfire.

Thanks, Patsy!! I am on it--I am now on my way to notify Boogie. I will be 'burning the blue' tomorrow also. I work nights as a nurse, but, as soon as I arrive home in the AM I will be uniting with you and whoever else might like to join us [smilie=th_biggestgrin]

I am at work now, but once I get home I will be burning something blue for Boogie. Having lost both of my parents, my heart goes out to her and her family. She is in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks Patsy for a great idea!

Great idea and thanks for sharing! Count me in; I already have a blue tealight burner, so I am ready to roll!
This one's for Boogie!
