Hey Keurig fans! Help! We were looking at them yesterday (on sale, whee!) but stopped because:

1. What model to get? Sometimes the smallest size appliance does not have the same results, so is the mini too small? What model do you like?

2. I see the different models can make different size cups of coffee...what am I missing? Aren't those little coffee tubbies the same size? How can it make different amounts without ending up with weak coffee?

3. They had the boxes of K-cups running around $12 on sale. If you order on line, by the time you pay shipping how does that compare? Top online sites to ck out, if so?

Thank you sooo much for you expertise! [smilie=th_oregonian_mornincoffe

I'm a very new Keurig owner so I'm not sure if I can help much, but we got the Platinum B70 model. We chose this one because it holds 72 oz. of water and is programmable. We bought ours at Costco for $149.99 and it came with 60 K-cups and the little filter so you can use your own ground coffee. I saw the filter at Target for $17.99 so I was happy that it was included. You can choose how many ounces you want to brew, but it will affect the strength since the K-cups are all the same size. If you want to brew 12 oz. and like strong coffee then you'd probably want to use a dark roast or something. I haven't ordered on-line yet, but when I registered my Keurig they sent me a code for 2 free boxes when I buy 2 plus free shipping so I'll probably end up using that at some point. I tired the Kahlua this morning and it's so good!

We've had our Keurig for about a year and a half. Got the big one from Costco. It also came with the filter, but it is basically worthless. Using the filter makes for an awful cup of coffee (my husband's words...lol). It makes a very weak cup of coffee. We stick with the K-cups. He uses the Gevalia coffeemaker.

I order the K-cups from Big Cat Coffee online. They ship right away and have awesome customer service. My friend has ordered from Keurig and waits forever for her coffee. The boxes have 24 K-cups for $13.75. You have to watch the per-unit cost because the ones in the stores only have 18, I think. Some might even have less. I used to get them from Kohl's, but they raised their prices and so you have to have a 30% off coupon for it to be more economical, but then you also have to pay tax. With Big Cat Coffee, there is free shipping with a $75 purchase and that works well if you just stock yourself up...or go in on an order with a friend.

All in all, the Keurig is an expensive way to go when you figure the per-cup cost of a cup of coffee, BUT...I love the convenience and variety that you can get.

OK, that makes sense, bigger cups of coffee will be weaker! Looks like you both have the bigger one, so maybe the small guy is too small. I like the size, though!

Good to know about Costco, they usually reseach things enough I am comfortable buying from them. The price is usually right, too!

Thanks for the feedback. [smilie=th_bighug-1]

[smilie=th_yeahthat] I have the filter cup that you can use your own coffee and my only complaint is that the grinds tend to bubble out into the coffee cup when I have used it...I don't use it anymore. :( The K-cups are the same but if you use the different amounts of water, the strength of the coffee changes. I use the largest amount of water (11 oz) with a k -cup cause I have MEGA mugs at home. I have the largest machine and I order my K-cups anywhere they are cheap...Mostly:
www.coffeeforless.com
They have Free Shipping for $45 or up...a box of 24 is $14.99 but you can find lots of clearance for $11 and up. Nothing wrong with them...just out of season or slightly expired (which tastes the same since they are not OLD only recently). Right now Target has an 18 pack for $10.99 plus sometimes they will give you a $5 gift card for each box purchased. Honeybear is right...lots of places sell you 12 packs for lots of money..big rip off! I do love my Keurig!!! :)
Honeybear...I'm gonna go check out Big Cat Coffee....thax!

We felt comfortable buying ours at Costco, too. The Target here has the exact same Keurig for $179.99 and it only comes with 12 K-cups and no filter.

Deb, this is the model I have and I really like it. It is one of the smaller sized models and fits perfectly on the countertop without being intrusive. The tubs are the same size - when you select your cup size, the machine then has a pre-determined amount of water it filters through to make your cup of coffee. For me, it depends on what brand and flavor of coffee I'm using so I've learned to play with the cup sizes to find what I like.

I shop almost exclusively at Coffee4Less. You can get volume discounts and as MaggieMae mentioned, they do have free shipping over $45. They also have special deals which are nice to find. Every now and again I will run across a special deal from someone else who carries K cups, so I'll pick some up then. I had not heard of Big Cat Coffee, so I'll have to check it out!

Ha! Now I need to check out Coffee4Less.

Big Cat Coffee used to have free shipping with a $50 purchase, but then increased it to a $75 purchase. I boycotted that for a bit, but then went in on an order with a friend. They ship so quickly and even give candy in the box. [smilie=th_smiley_emoticons_hurr

Thanks for the good info!

I will ck that model out, Cyn - I think I saw it in my hunt. I am fascinated by the variety of cups for this system, I will be good and buzzed!
