Introduction to my review:
I’m so behind the times with Yankee products… I didn’t even know they had wood wick candles only they call their version – Pure Radiance Crackling LumiWick candles. They sure are pretty and I admit, I was intrigued. I love the sound effects of WoodWick candles so I was looking forward to trying Yankee’s version.
I bought a nice selection of fragrances in this particular line (on sale of course) and the first candle I knew I wanted to review was Iced Cookie. It smelled so scrumptious!
What did my Ice Cookie candle look like?
Very pretty candle. I bought the large 22oz size. The style jar was unlike any other Yankee candle I’ve tried. I thought it very contemporary… the shape was tall with the center of the glass flaring out. The overall style was very elegant. The lid was made of a flat gold plastic that fit on the candle snugly. The wax a soft cream color.
The wick was interesting. It was really thin and perfectly centered in the candle. It didn’t seem like wood because I could manipulate and bend it. It was also coated with a thin layer of wax.
What did my Iced Cookie candle smell like?
Cold sniff… oh my gosh! Mouth. Watering. Yum! I’m drawn to cookie scents, they are my absolute favorite. I love sweet and bakery vanillas the best and a good sugar cookie fragrance is the perfect kind of vanilla I’m attracted to. When I first smelled this candle, I wanted more right then and there. It had all the elements I’m after in a cookie scent. That yummy doughy vanilla frosted sweetness that brings to mind a freshly baked cookie right from the oven. Can’t you taste it?
“Who can resist the holiday temptation of just-baked vanilla goodness and creamy frosting? Delightfully decorated as Christmas trees, snowmen, Santa Claus or snowflakes, these treats always seemed more delicious when served on a plate in Grandma’s kitchen. Serve this scent up anytime you please.”
I can’t resist!! The scent description above implies this is a Christmas scent but I promise you… it’s not. This scent is a total perfect and delicious sugar cookie that can be enjoyed any time of the year. There was nothing synthetic or fake about it… just a delicious and warm vanilla cookie. The true test… how was it burning?
I lit this candle early morning in a small powder room… I wanted the full scent effect and total room saturation. I loved the way this candle smelled, I wanted so badly for it to be awesome. I also couldn’t wait for the sound effects from the wood wick. First day – no scent, second day – no scent… third day on… no scent. Final thoughts after burning this candle from beginning to end?…. total absolute 100% disappointment. I burned this candle in a super small powder room and there was virtually *zero* scent… I could barely smell anything with my nose up to the candle. Sound effects… nothing. Not even a teeny bit of sound. And it’s not that the crackling was a selling point for me but if you’re going to advertise “wood wick crackling”…. you kinda expect that to some degree.
I am beyond disappointed with this candle. I loved the cold sniff so much but scent wise… nothing.
How did my Iced Cookie candle burn?
This candle burned like a dream and was very pretty burning. The flame was perfect and achieved a complete melt pool within 20 minutes of lighting it. It stayed even throughout its life and burned to the bottom with no wasted wax. I did have to trim the wick often but that’s pretty normal with any wick.
Closing to my review:
What a sad ending to such a promising start. This candle smelled so incredible before lighting it!! A perfect mouth watering vanilla cookie scent. I wanted so badly to love it but with no scent throw… couldn’t do it.
I have more LumiWick candles to burn from Yankee so we’ll see how those are. I hope they’re better. Will also be curious to see if the others have the crackling sound they’re supposed to. Will report back!
Happy candle hunting.

I agree with your assessment. No fragrance at all.
