Brand: White Barn Candle
Type: 14.5oz large 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Warm Apple Pie
Scent Strength: Very light
First impression of Warm Apple Pie:
What bakery lover can resist the fragrance of warm apple pie wafting through their home? It’s a favorite of mine so when I saw Warm Apple Pie at a Bath & Body Works store… I couldn’t resist purchasing one to review. I love White Barn so I was hoping this candle would be a room filler.
Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:
Baked granny smith apple, melted brown sugar, flaky homemade crust.
Yum!! Smelling the wax for the first time, I smelled sweet apples the most. I couldn’t really detect brown sugar or homemade crust but hoping those elements come to life once the candle was burning.
Time to find out!
I lit this candle in a large bedroom – once the wicks were lit, it took a good 20 minutes to reach a full melt pool and from then on out…. a really-really light aroma filled the air around the candle. It was so light, I ended up moving the candle to my small powder room and even in that small of a room, the aroma was light. To say I was bummed would be an understatement but it happens, even with a White Barn Candle.
I will say, I loved the fragrance itself and thought it was one of the most authentic apple pie scents I’ve ever smelled. The aroma… sweet baked apples and brown sugar on a bed of flaky crust and my favorite part… the crust stood out the most giving it that warm yummy feel. It was a scent I wanted to take a bite of and take keep breaths of. The down side… this aroma continued to be light. I would have loved room saturation strong with this candle but it wasn’t meant to be. Bummer.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 0 in a large and medium rooms. 3 at the most in a small room. So very sad.
My candle burned perfect. Zero wick issues, clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
Well, White Barn 100% got the scent right, it was literally mouthwatering perfection. There are hundreds of apple pie scents out there but most are heavy apple and cinnamon. This version was flaky crust with apples and brown sugar. YUM!!!! You just couldn’t smell it unless you were right on top of the candle. So disappointing.
With that said, I will probably give this candle another try down the road since I liked it that much, And who knows… maybe the scent will be stronger. One can hope.
Don’t see Warm Apple Pie listed on Bath & Body Works website? No worries… try their stores which generally carry many more scents than their website.
Happy candle hunting!
Burn Performance: 5/5
Overall Rating: 3/5
** Please note, this candle still rates decent because it met a lot of the criteria we look for when reviewing a candle. Presentation was great, it was authentic and it burned perfectly. It rated low under strength.**
