Introduction to my Harry & David Crisp Mountain Apple review:
Harry & David is a well known company for their amazing pears and gourmet gift baskets but did you know they now have a candle line? Harry & David… CANDLES!!!
I purchased a few of these beauties at my local grocery store last year and I have to say… major “candle find!” I love these candles! They only have a handful of scents that I can find but what fragrances they do offer are pretty awesome.
So where can you purchase these candles? It’s not easy finding this brand but once you do, definitely buy a few to try… I think you’ll be happy with your purchase. All the scents I’ve tried so far are strong, true and beautiful to look at. They’re not available on Harry & David’s website – you can only purchase them through gift shops and so far, quite a few grocery stores. I also found a few online shops that offer a variety of these candles but not many so it’s luck of the draw finding this line. We are getting so many inquiries and searches on Harry & David candles that I decided I wanted to review them all for Candlefind.
This review centers on their Crisp Mountain Apple scent.
What does my Crisp Mountain Apple candle from Harry & David look like?
This candle is a beautiful apple red. It’s in a square 16oz glass jar and double wicked. The lid on this candle is copper colored with a scrolled Harry & David font embossed in the center of the lid. The label is clear and has a picture of fresh picked apples on it with the Harry & David logo above the picture. Very classy and well done.
What did my Harry & David Crisp Mountain Apple candle smell like?
Who doesn’t love a great apple scent? I seriously don’t know anyone who doesn’t. It’s classic, simple and STRONG!! Almost every variation of apple I’ve tried is authentic which means it’s almost impossible to screw up… a sure winner when you’re after consistency and it’s also a great all year around fragrance to burn. I couldn’t wait to light this candle as soon as I purchased it. Scent description I could find online for this scent:
“Fresh, clean scent of crisp and juicy apple.”A basic description but accurate. Smelling this candle right off the shelf, it smelled exactly like a crisp red apple. Strong and sweet with very little tartness – no green apple going on here. This candle is also a room filler. I lit this candle in a large bedroom and within minutes, I could smell the fragrance. Within a half an hour, the scent was throughout the room and beyond. Loved it!! On a scale of 1 to 10, this one is at least a 9.
How did my Crisp Mountain Apple candle burn?
I had a bit of trouble with this specific candle, I’m hoping it was a fluke since all the previous Harry & David candles I’ve tried burned perfect.
It was difficult getting a full melt pool throughout the life of this candle so there was a wall of wax left behind. I don’t like any wasted wax so that kinda bugged me. The flames on the wicks were fine with very little maintenance needed. I would have preferred a cleaner burn.
Closing to my review of a Crisp Mountain Apple candle from Harry & David:
Loving Harry & David candles. Their products are top quality and their candles live up to this reputation. Crisp Mountain Apple was pretty good, a true authentic apple scent that gave a nice strong throw. I wasn’t thrilled with the burn performance but my hope is, it was a fluke since all my previous candles were excellent.
If you’re on the hunt for these candles, check out your local grocery stores first. I’m finding quite a few in my area that carry this brand and I live in a small town. Online searches produce different retail outlets as well.
Good luck in your candle search and as always… happy candle burning!
