What did my candle smell like?
Have you tried Blue Raspberry Cupcake yet bakery lovers? When Goose Creek launched their new cupcake collection, oh my gosh! I flew to their website and purchased one of each… I am such a bakery lover, I couldn’t resist. Every scent sounded amazing but it was Blue Raspberry Cupcake I was drawn to first with its bright blue wax and sweet smelling aroma. I wanted to eat it!!
Here is the scent description from Goose Creek’s website:
A delicious blend of freshly baked raspberries, whipped sugar, fresh cream and vanilla, that will fill your home with a mouth-watering aroma.
Mmmm!!!! I’ll take two please!! This candle smelled like sweet berries and sugar. Not so much a warm bakery cupcake would but it did smell sugary and sweet. I was a little disappointed I didn’t smell warm cake notes – I was hoping for that – but I still liked it.
Time to find out how it burns!!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom and couldn’t wait for the magic to begin. Once lit, it took a good 20 minutes to really start noticing the aroma and once I did… I smelled a sugary berry scent. It still didn’t smell like a cupcake… it actually reminded me of a blue raspberry cotton candy scent. All the way. Very sweet with lots of sugar and 100% edible. Am I disappointed there was were no cake/bakery notes? Yeah… a little. But, to be fair… this scent did smell like the description. Nowhere in there does it mention cupcake or bakery. So, I’ll let you decide.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle between a 6 and 7 in a large room. 8 in a medium room and probably a 10 in a small room.
My candle burned perfect. Zero issues. Just had to be vigilant and keep both wicks trimmed.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed this fragrance but I have to admit, I was a little confused. When I envisioned this fragrance, I imagined a sweet and warm cupcake scent blended with cotton and sugary raspberries. But instead, this scent smelled more like a cotton candy type scent with no bakery notes. Don’t misunderstand, I still enjoyed it… it was super sweet and perfect for spring and summer, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
I have more cupcake candles to burn and review so stay tuned.
Happy candle hunting!
