First impression of Apple Black Walnut:
Man! Goose Creek has the most amazing sales that I literally can’t resist!! How can I when some sales are $6.50 for a large candle? That’s a STEAL!!!!
Black Apple Walnut was purchased from my last “I couldn’t resist” sale and I’m glad I took the plunge. I love a good apple scent and this one sounded pretty intriguing.
Here is the scent description:
This unique aroma blends molten caramel, sweet apple, cinnamon apple spice and black walnuts. It’s a spicy apple treat that is truly delicious!
Unique right? Molten caramel and black walnuts? I don’t know what black walnuts smell like but my first response to the description was… oh yeah!! First impression when I smelled the wax… a cinnamon apple spice. I didn’t really detect caramel or walnuts but hoping those notes come to life once the candle was burning.
Time to find out!!
I lit this candle in a large bedroom to start out. Once the wicks were lit, it took a good 20 minutes to reach a full melt pool and then another few hours to really even notice the fragrance – and I think that’s because I had it burning in too large of a room. Once I moved it to a smaller room, the aroma was much better.
The fragrance? A nutty apple scent that smelled really good. The spice notes in the beginning really tapered off leaving a nice and warm nutty apple fragrance with hints of caramel. I liked it and thought it was a nice spin for an apple fragrance.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 3/4 in a large room. 5 in a medium room and 7 in a small room. This candle is definitely better suited to a small room if you really want to enjoy the aroma.
This candle burned fairly well. It burned clean and even from start to finish with no wasted wax. – – I do want to mention I really had to stay on top of trimming both wicks quite a bit throughout the day and each and every day I had this candle burning. These wicks burned hot and the flames became torches if I didn’t keep them trimmed. Another important reminder to trim those wicks people and always watch every candle you burn at all times.
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed Apple Black Walnut. I’m a huge fan of apple scents and this fragrance was different enough to really appreciate. It was lightly scented so should you purchase this candle, stick to a small room to burn in it. That’s what I plan on doing next time around.
Happy candle hunting!
