Introduction to my review:
Have you all been noticing the **incredible** sales Colonial Candle has been having this year? Oh my gosh!! Unheard of! One sale was 50% off plus 20% on top of that… crazy!! Who can seriously resist such sales? Not me! I think I bought one of every scent, at least! I couldn’t help it.
When available, I like to purchase their large jars… they’re just too gorgeous for words. Big, beautiful double wick oval jars in rich vibrant colors. I cannot say enough good things about Colonial Candles elegant oval jars and how beautiful they are burning. This review centers around the scent Berry Sorbet. The rich purple color attracted me immediately so I knew this was the first candle I wanted to review.
This candle is SO pretty. The candle was their 22oz classic large oval jar. Their large jars are so heavy, you almost have to hold them with two hands. The color of the wax was this gorgeous deep and dark plum purple. The color was really striking. The label on the candle shows someone scooping out ice cold berry sorbet.
Just a FYI… the picture at the top of this review and to the left does not do this candle justice at all. The wax color on the actual candle is way darker than what’s pictured.
What did my Berry Sorbet candle smell like?
“A sweet medley of energizing berries and grape with a touch of deep rich port.”
Cold sniff… this candle smelled like purple grapes to me. I wasn’t really detecting a medley of berries or port… just sweet candied grapes… it reminded me of grape jolly rancher candies or grape bubble gum. I admit, I was expecting more of a berries and cream kind of scent since the picture implies a berry sherbet but that’s okay… I still liked this scent regardless. I’m a creature of habit… when I burn fruity scents, it’s either apple, melons or citrus so grape was a nice change of pace.
Large Colonial Candles are usually pretty strong so I started this candle in my master bedroom. After a few hours, the scent throw was really light so I ended up moving it into a smaller room where it performed much better. This candle in a smaller room gave a nice medium throw. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say this was between a 5 and 6. The fragrance stayed true from beginning to end… a nice grape candy type aroma. I really enjoyed it but I wish it would have been a little stronger.
My candle burned perfect. No issues at all. This candle was so pretty burning. The wax was such a dark purple so when lit, the wax gave off a purple glow. The flames were perfect (I did have to trim them before each lighting) but that’s normal. No wasted wax… no soot. Perfect!
Closing to my review:
I liked this candle. I purchased it on mega sale which sweetened the deal – so if you have a hankering to give this one a try… I noticed it’s still on sale if you wanted to nab one. Just keep in mind this scent is on the lighter side.
Colonial Candles are really pretty and striking candles when burning. They are expensive so if you can catch a sale… go for it.
Happy candle hunting!
