Introduction to my review:
Mmmmm! Lemon! My absolute favorite scent ever. It’s so fresh and clean… sweet and vibrant… and always puts a smile on my face.
Lemonade scents are a summertime favorite around here so as soon as I saw this candle at Walmart and popped off the lid, it was mine. The wax smelled like a sugary sweet Lemon. Nothing fake or chemically and with an $8 dollar price tag… I bought 2.
What did my Zesty Summer Lemonade candle look like?
My candle was an 18oz apothecary style jar with a glass dome lid that fits on the candle snugly… these candles are very similar to Yankee style classic jars. The wax color was a light yellow with one centered wick. The label on the candle shows the Better Homes and Gardens logo with a glass of ice cold lemonade with a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass. I couldn’t find a picture of this candle anywhere online, sorry.
What did my candle smell like?
Cold sniff, this candle smelled like a sweet and summery lemon. Nothing chemically or fake about it… just a delightful lemon… I really liked it! I couldn’t find a scent description for this fragrance but I don’t think one is really needed. “Lemonade” says it all.
These candles are generally lightly scented for me so I stuck to a small bathroom to burn this candle in. It took a good half a day to get a complete melt pool…. I couldn’t believe how long it took but once it did… it burned perfect.
Now how was the scent? After burning this candle for a full week, I’m not sure I would say this was the most authentic lemonade fragrance I’ve tried – but it was still a really nice lemon. It was sugary and sweet and definitely satisfied my lemon craving. The scent itself reminded me more of a lemon drop candy rather than lemonade though. I felt like it was missing that zesty tartness authentic lemonade scents have. I still enjoyed it and would buy it again.
Strength…. This candle was *really* light, even burning in a small room. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this one a 3. That was my only disappointment with this candle… the strength. I would have loved it even more were it just a tad stronger.
My candle burned great. Very slow burning so it took hours with each lighting to get a complete melt pool. Once it did though, it was smooth sailing. This candle burned even and clean all the way down. Wick maintenance was pretty moderate too… I trimmed my wick once before each lighting.
Closing to my review:
If you haven’t tried a Better Homes and Gardens candle yet, it would be worth a trip to Walmart to check some out. They aren’t the strongest candles out there but for the price… they’re totally worth it. And if you stick to burning them in small rooms, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Zesty Summer Lemonade was a nice and sweet lemon and a great scent to burn on hot summer days. I do wish the scent throw would have been stronger but I’ll just stick to my small powder room when burning it. Would I buy this candle again? Yes. Not sure in bulk since it was so light but when I need a lemon fix and I’m at Walmart… this would do in a pinch.
Happy candle hunting!

I'm on the fence with this candle. I think I expected something totally different than what it actually smelled like. I didn't smell like lemonade to me. I do agree though on the strength. For a lemon it was light.
