What did my Sun-lit Strawberry Patch candle smell like?
Nothing brings in summer like a sweet strawberry scent and Better Homes and Gardens version called Sun-lit Strawberry Patch smelled pretty darn good. When I popped off the lid to smell the wax for the first time, a sweet “candy like” strawberry wafted all around me. Not sure I would call it the most authentic rendition but it smelled sweet and fresh. So far, so good.
Here is the scent description I pulled off of Walmart’s website:
This candle features the irresistible aroma of sun-ripened strawberries accented with green berry leaf, touches of raspberry and a dash of soft vanilla bean and tantalizing sugar.
First impression, I’m still sticking with my initial thoughts, a sweet candied type strawberry. It smelled like strawberries and sugar all blended together. So as far as the description goes… they did pretty good.
Time to find out how this candle performs.
I stuck to a small bathroom to burn this candle in and within about an hour of lighting it… a sweet and sugared strawberry aroma filled the room – the same aroma when I first smelled the wax. I didn’t really detect green notes or vanilla but as far as strawberry scents go, this candle smelled pretty authentic and better than the majority of versions I’ve tried. I really liked it.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 6 in a small room… 4 or less in a medium to larger room. All in all, this was a perfect candle to burn in a small room.
This candle burned great. It did take hours with each lighting to reach full melt pools but that’s pretty normal with this brand. It burned clean and evenly with no soot, you just have to be on top of trimming the wick before each lighting. If you don’t… it will produce a little bit of soot on the glass walls.
Closing to my review:
Sun-lit Strawberry Patch was a nice and summery strawberry scent and one I really enjoyed. Strawberry is a hard one to nail for me… the majority I’ve tried never smell authentic enough so. Better Homes version pleasantly surprised me.
Happy candle hunting!
