What did my candle smell like?
Spiced Pineapple Samba was an interesting fragrance. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a pineapple paired with something spicy. Based off first sniff… I liked it. It was different and unique.
Here is the scent description from the bottom of the candle:
A hint of spice revs up the tempo in this blend of golden juicy pineapple soaked in brown sugar.
This was such an interesting and flavorful scent. I smelled the pineapple and spice loud and clear but wasn’t sure I detected the brown sugar. I’m hoping that sweet element comes to life once the candle is burning.
Time to find out!
I lit this candle in my master bedroom and would say it took a good hour or more before I started noticing the fragrance. The aroma… a very subtle but dull pineapple scent. The spice – once burning – was completely gone which seemed strange. The brown sugar? Hard to tell. I really had to get on top of the candle to really even smell the fragrance so the strength wasn’t what I’m accustomed to with this brand. What I could smell was just a plain and dull pineapple I didn’t really care for.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 4 in a large room. It was that weak so if you have this candle, stick to small rooms to burn in it. You’ll be much happier.
This candle burned great. Zero wick issues. Clean burning from start to finish.
Closing to my review:
This candle started out so promising and ended in disappointment. It happens and I want to stress, what I thought of the scent is a personal preference. What I dislike, you may like. Would I recommend this scent? Probably not. Out of all the pineapple scents Bath & Body Works has come out with, this is by far my least favorite. It wasn’t sweet or tangy or memorable at all.
Happy candle hunting!
Burn Performance: 5/5
Overall Rating: 3/5
This candle still rates high because it met all the criteria we look for when reviewing a candle. Presentation was great, the scent did match the description and the candle burned great. I personally just didn’t care for the fragrance. It happens.
