Beach Day Scented Candle – Bath & Body Works
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Bath & Body Works
Type: 14.5oz 3 wick candle
Fragrance: Beach Day
Scent Strength: Medium
Introduction to my review:
I’m feeling a little rebellious by sneaking in one more summery candle before I start bombarding myself with pumpkin scents from here on out.
Beach Day was a spur of the moment purchase for me (if there is such a thing.) – – I love the look of their frosted glass jars so I decided to purchase a few to review for Candlefind… they sounded so fresh and fun. When I saw “lemon leaves” in the scent description for this fragrance… that pretty much sealed the deal. Lemon is my favorite scent ever and I love lemon blends even more so in my cart it went…
What did my candle smell like?
This candle was simple but pretty. The vessel was a frosted sea green color with no label adorning the glass. There was an insert covering the wax that showed a blurred out beach scene. The wax color was white. This candle was very simple and serene… I liked it. (see picture at the top of this review for visual reference)
Here is the scent description from the bottom label on the candle:
“Blissful beach days are in this blend of saltwater, lemon leaves and citrus musk”
Smelling this candle for the first time, it smelled like a light and powdery perfume. I don’t know what saltwater smells like so I can’t say if I picked up on that… to me… this scent was a touch of citrus blended with musk. It didn’t seem overbearing at all like some musk fragrances can be.
Once lit… all the elements in the description really came to life and the overall fragrance was fresh, inviting and very different. The musk and citrus blended perfectly… it reminded me of a unisex perfume any gender could wear and enjoy. I can totally imagine this fragrance wafting through a beach house.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this candle a 6. It wasn’t strong but gave a nice medium and steady throw.
This candle burned great up until a little over halfway down… after that, the wicks starting fizzling out until they wouldn’t stay lit anymore. This was a typical issue this brand had in previous years. It’s a big bummer too because by the time you get to this point in the candle… it’s not really worth returning. So, lots of wasted wax. 🙁
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed Beach Day. Not sure I enjoyed it enough to purchase it again though if that makes any sense. I’m glad I tried it and think for those who love softer fragrances that are fresh, you would probably really enjoy this one. Keep in mind this is a seasonal fragrance so it’ll be interesting to see if they bring this line back next year. Big bummer on the burn performance and am hoping it was a fluke and won’t happen again. We’ll see.
Happy candle hunting!
Burn Performance: 2/5
Overall Rating: 3/5 (this candle would have been rated higher had the burn performance been better)

I love this scent and was disappointed to find it unavailable. I hope it comes back in the spring or summer! I'm almost out of the Beach Day candle and plug-in refills. Thank you for something so unique and, as tee said, refreshing!

I like this candle...It is refreshing, and makes you kind of feel like you are actually at a beach, if you are closing your eyes, and lounging back in your recliner near by.It isn't really too strong. But it does refresh my living room area, which is enough for me. I love a lot of the BB&BW candles. Haven't tried them all though 😉
