Julia Wooten reviews, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversIntroduction to my Candleberry Candle Co Review:

The Candleberry Candle Co. is based in Frankfort, Kentucky. This was such a fun candle company to review because they have so much Kentucky pride. Go Wildcats! When I looked around their website, and when I sampled some of their many scented candles and melts, I couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement they show for their state. The Kentucky Bourbon scented candles are one of their signature scents as is the Hot Maple Toddy. All in all, I was charmed by their enthusiasm for all things Kentucky.

The website itself has been recently redesigned and flows smoothly just like that good Kentucky Bourbon. Scents were grouped together in cohesive categories and there was a helpful search feature for looking up particular scents. I used the store locator to find a retail source close to home, but I didn't dare visit a local store for fear of snapping up Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverseverything in sight.

There were scent descriptions for each scent, but not listed out all on one page. I needed to pull up each individual scent to see the description, but at least by doing that, I was able to see a good sized photo of each product as I went along. Some of the larger sized jar candles are layered, and the melts are unusual looking so the photos were entertaining for this candle fan.

I liked the way Candleberry Candles' new website was laid out. Everything was easy to find and the candles looked very enticing.

What do my Candles Look Like? Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle lovers

Several of the jar candles at Candleberry Candle Company are layered, but the jar scents that I reviewed this time were all solid colors. The single wicked, 10 ounce jars are a standard apothecary style. I like this type of jar because of it's wide mouth that allows for a good large melt pool and maximum scent throw.

Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversThere is a small country style label with Candleberry Candle Co. and the scent name listed on each jar that peeled off easily enough, but I left mine on. The labels worked well with the matte black lids and I liked the overall look of the jars.

Candleberry Candle Company offers the coolest looking melts. They are called "It's a Piece of Cake!" simmering tarts, and are a trademarked product of theirs. Each boxed cake is 4.5 ounces of wax with eight pull-apart slices that fit perfectly in my melters. I liked that I didn't have to cut them myself, and the cake looks pretty enough to set out on a plate... a very unique and interesting product.

How did my candles from Candleberry Candle Co smell?

Honey Buttered Rolls

I started out with this scent in an "It's a Piece of Cake!" melt slice. The melt cake was a creamy orange color. The scent description sounded Honey Butterd Rolls scented candle review from Candleberry Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversgood:

"A soft, buttery, golden crust, drenched in the warm glaze of cinnamon dashed honey will fill your home with the flavor and the feel of homemade honey buttered yeast rolls. That's the ultimate in comfort food!"

The Pooh Bear in me is always looking for a sweet smackeral of honey scents, so I was really looking forward to this one. It's also why I jumped on melting this one first.

The cold sniff smelled exactly like the description, but as it melted, the scent didn't quite stay true. It took on a much more buttery aspect with considerably less honey goodness. I didn't catch much cinnamon, in fact, before reading the description, I made a note to myself that it could benefit from some cinnamon.

At first I enjoyed the novelty of this less sweet bakery scent, but as the wax melted this scent developed a slightly burned smell and the butter was over the top, more like a butter substitute and not authentic to my nose.

Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversI didn't smell yeast rolls either. The scent was not particularly sweet which could have been the yeasty aspect, but the longer I smelled this melt, the more I thought it really could have used more sweetness, more honey, and a lot less greasy smelling margarine.

I must tell you that these scented melts had a mega-strong scent throw and filled my home. For those looking for a strong thrower, Honey Buttered Rolls is what I would call a house filler, and I'd also like to add that this scent is listed as a bestseller...so personal preference comes into play too. Unfortunately for me, this Pooh Bear found the butter churn instead of the honey pot here.

Cinnamon Peach Smoothie

This 10 ounce apothecary jar was a dark peach color. The scent description was short and sweet, but looked oh so tempting.

"Juicy peaches, sprinkled with a touch of sparkling sugar cinnamon."

Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversMy two words to describe this scent are peachy and spicy, and it was an interesting combination of scents. I'm not used to having a spice note in with a juicy peach, and I don't know why it's not more commonly done. This was a fabulous combination of fruit and spice.

The jar candle I tried didn't have a super strong throw and got lost in my largest open living area. I could smell it when I really tried to, but it didn't catch my attention when I was just passing by it so I moved it to my bathroom.

In a smaller space, the scent became much stronger and w as a lovely scent from start to finish. In fact, when the candle had burned down as far as I safely dared burn it, I poured the last drops into my melter so I could enjoy this scent as long as possible.

Carolina Sugar Cane Mist

Hooray! A candle scented in Sugar Cane! These are hard to find, so I was so excited to try this candle scent. Here is how the scent is described:

"This is the most wonderful sugar cane scent we have ever come across. After adding a touch of complimenting oil, we decided this is one of our best candles up to date."

Along with the countless orange groves here in Florida, there are also miles and miles of sugar cane fields that stretch out as far as the eye can see. The sugar cane grows taller than a grown person and it's a lush dark green color. To me the fields look like a giant's backyard. When the wind blows, you can see ripples of motion in the fields. It's a beautiful sight, and the scent that accompanies this crop is a fresh, grassy breeze with just the barest hint of sweetness. When it mixes with the smell of orange groves, it is absolutely intoxicating. Whenever we drive through the state, and pass the cane fields, I just have to have the car windows down...no matter how hot it is outside.

So, that gives you some idea of how thrilled I was to find a candle scent Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverscalled Carolina Sugar Cane Mist I figured the sugar cane can't be much different in Carolina than here in Florida so I was happy to bring that fragrance into my very own home.

This candle was a pretty pale blue color...a lighter shade of blue than what was shown on the website, but lovely, and the scent was just what I was hoping for. It is subtle and not overly sweet. One would think that a sugar cane scent would be super sweet, but this is actually more like a fresh clean linen smell only slightly similar to the popular fragrance type called Citrus Linen H2O. It is sweet, but not in a bakery, foody sort of way. more like a sweet Spring breeze... just beautiful.

The candle scented my bathroom easily. I moved it to my larger bedroom where it did okay, but I found that I wanted a bigger punch of scent so I brought it back into my smaller bathroom for the majority of it's burn.

It wasn't an exact duplicate of the actual sugar cane breeze, but I didn't have to drive with the windows down in 90+ degree heat either, so I consider it a fair compromise. I completely enjoyed this candle, and would definitely like to get this scent again... maybe I'll try this scent in the melts next time.

Cottage Linens

Speaking of melts, I did have this Cottage Linens scent in the"It's a Piece of Cake!" simmering tarts. The melt cake is dark blue and pretty enough to display or give as a gift. Here is Candleberry's description:

"A deep clean, warm fragrance of fresh linens. It will have you wishing Candleberry made this scent in a fabric softener sheet."

Cottage LinensThis scent type is vaguely similar to the Carolina Sugar Cane, so I intentionally gave my nose a day's break before trying Cottage Linens. With this scent in the melts, I got a stronger throw right off the bat.

Cottage Linens is a perfectly respectable fresh linen scent. It's got a drop of floral in it and a dab of powder, mixed with stacks of freshly laundered sheets. I'm not over the moon for fresh laundry scents in general, but this one was quite nice. It didn't stand out as a one-of-a-kind fragrance, but it was pleasant and everyone here seemed to enjoy it. It had a relaxing, almost sleepy feel to it.

I call this scent a guest bedroom scent. It's the kind of simple, clean fragrance that doesn't offend anyone's Auntie Mable come to visit, and would be great at freshening up a room that's been closed up too long. In fact, this is just how I will use the remainder of my Cottage Linens melts.

Hot Maple Toddy

After my experience with Honey Buttered Rolls, I was really in no hurry to light up another scent that even hinted at honey or bakery. Hot Maple Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversToddy is described as:

"Maple honey. Grandma used to cure all ailments with her special cup of warm spirits dashed with lemon juice. The best part was the spoonful of maple honey. And does this candle ever cure your olfactory senses! Get ready for the best candle ever."

When I finally lit this rich brown colored jar candle, it only took a few minutes to realize that I was in for a treat!

It is a fantastic, complex, can't get enough of it, yummy scent. The maple and honey come together beautifully with the rich blend of warm spirits. The scent description doesn't list Kentucky bourbon as part of this fragrance... the bourbon, in fact being another of their signature scents...but I could swear there is more than a nip of whiskey in Hot Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversMaple Toddy.

This 10 ounce candle had a great big throw that demanded attention. It filled my kitchen like a party in a jar! I can totally see getting the large sized jar and just keeping it on my kitchen counter for whenever I need a nip of scent to throw some zing into a dull day.

What more can I say about this warm, inviting scent except that I'm sad that the candle is gone and I want more of it. I thought the strength was just right in the candle, so when I do go after this scent again, I'll go for the apothecary jar once more, but larger... I'm so bad... here I am reviewing a candle company, and I'm already planning my next order.

Candle flameHow did my candles burn?

These candles burned exceptionally well. The wax pooled completely and left the sides of the jar clean. The melts were easy to pull apart and melted quickly.

I didn't have any one scent in both melts and candles to compare throw, but from what what I have tried, the melts seem to be a pinch stronger than the candles. It could be due to the different scents but I'm leaning towards thinking it's a melt vs. candle thing.

Closing to my Candleberry Candle Co Review…

I think it's funny and very telling that I was planning my next order while I reviewed the candles from Candleberry Candle Company. Along with Candleberry Candle Co scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversreordering a few of the scents I've already sampled, there are several others that I would like to try too, so when I do, I will be sure to review them as well.

I had a great experience with Candleberry Candle Company, and I can't stop thinking about that Hot Maple Toddy scent. Let's hear it for Kentucky! The bluegrass, the Kentucky Derby, the sippin' whiskey, the Wildcats, and now, the candles too.

Happy Candle Smelling!
