Julia Wooten Candle Reviews, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversIntroduction to my review of the "enLIGHTen Collection" from Ergo Candles:

Ergo is a luxurious brand of 100% soy candles. These candles have caught my attention time, and time again with their modern and colorful packaging and unusual scent blends. They have been featured in many magazines, and were voted "best candles ever" by "O" Oprah's magazine. If you've never seen them before, I urge you to go get an eye-full at Scents&Sprays website.

I've been so curious about this brand, yet I had never taken the plunge and tried one before. It's hard to splurge on a luxury candle without first knowing how it will perform and what exactly it smells like. That's why I was so pleased to have the opportunity to review this candle line, and share my experiences with all of you... to give you an idea of what to expect from this top-of-the-line brand.

What do my "enLIGHTen Collection" candles from Ergo look like?
Ergo Enlighten Collection Candles, Candlefind.com, the site for candle lovers
All of Ergo's collections have a different, distinctive style, which I find appealing. The Enlighten candles are beautiful. They are each hand poured into 7oz clear glass tumblers and are single wicked. The tumblers have elegant black scrollwork embossed on two sides and have a nice heavy base. The embossing is offset by pure white soy wax. Each candle is packaged in its own elegant, giftable box with the same black scroll design on a white background.

How did my "enLIGHTen Collection" candles from Ergo smell?

Exhilarate

The first candle I tried from the Enlighten collection was Exhilarate. When any candle company is so bold as to name their candle with the emotion it is supposed to evoke, I feel compelled to challenge their claim. Cantankerous, I know... but I am ever the skeptic.

The Exhilarate scent is said to have notes of "Mountain Water, Citrus Zests, and Eucalyptus", so it did have a good chance of representing its namesake.

Ergo Enlighten collection scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversStraight from the box this candle smelled good, and since it looked so pretty, I kept it sitting at my desk for an entire week before lighting it. I would catch whiffs of citrus from this lovely jar throughout the day. Finally, I couldn't wait any longer...I wanted to smell the exhilaration full on. When I lit this candle, I was thrilled with how strong and fresh it smelled.

I smelled all of the aspects from the description in there...The cool clear mountain water, with strong notes of citrus, and hints of eucalyptus rounding out the scent. Let me be clear about the citrus note...it's not a juice or fruity type of scent...it's more of a fresh tanginess, almost herbal...outstanding.

Being a 7 oz jar, it is smaller than many medium sized jar candles available...but let me tell you...this candle packed a huge scent punch when lit. It filled a medium room with no problem so I moved it out into my larger main area. It threw scent around like crazy. I was so pleased with the performance of this candle.

In closing, it's a fantastic, and yes, exhilarating scent. This candle is most definitely named correctly. Exhilarate is what this scent does for me. I enjoyed every moment of burning this stunning candle.

Entice
The next scent I tried, also from the "enLIGHTen collection" was named Entice. This scent description caught my attention right away. "Geranium, Fir Balsam absolute with a hint of Entice candle from the Ergo enLIGHTen collection, scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loversCurrant". I have been seeing Geranium included more and more in different scent combinations, so I was really looking forward to trying this one and finding out what it was all about.

The Entice candle fragrance, with it's Geranium, is like having crushed green stems and leaf cuttings in the palm of your hand. The Fir Balsam Absolute lends a deeper wood quality but doesn't smell the least bit piney to me. All together, the fragrance is a very green, succulent scent with just a shimmer of woods and a light, fresh, fruitiness... it is fantastic.

This fragrance didn't have the same power punch of scent that Exhilarate had, but it certainly held it's own. I first lit this candle in my largest room... the candle fragrance was so intriguing... dare I say... enticing... that I wanted to be sure I was getting the full effect of the scent, so I moved it into my smaller sized bedroom. There, the scent truly developed and made the whole room smell incredible. I think it's fair to say that this scent was indeed enticing and was also aptly named.

Candle flameHow did my "enLIGHTen Collection" candles from Ergo burn?

Both of these candles performed beautifully. They burned evenly and cleanly. The scent pool formed and reached the sides quickly and started pumping out the fragrance with no waiting... that's my kind of burn. The cotton paper core wick is substantial and I needed to keep it trimmed, but not more than usual.

Closing to my review:

I'm beginning to realize that my list of favorites may never be complete, because just Ergo Enlighten Collection scented candle review, Candlefind.com, the site for candle loverswhen I thought I had a full assortment of candles in the top spots, along came Ergo Candles. The two scents I tried from Ergo's "enLIGHTen collection" were both exceptionally good. They are luxury candles that earn the title with amazing scent clarity.

These are the types of fragrances that I will go out of my way to get. They cost more than my everyday candles, but with a 50 hour burn time, these are well worth breaking into that mad money for. I'll be dropping hints about these candles when my birthday rolls around... and Mother's Day... maybe even Groundhog Day... Arbor Day...

Look for more of my Ergo candle reviews in the upcoming months. In the meantime, you can find a great selection of Ergo Candles at Scents&Sprays.com.

Happy candle smelling!

~ Julia
