Introduction to my Review of an Orange Scented Aromatherapy Candle from Way Out Wax:
This was an interesting review for me because the first time I reviewed this company, I had a horrible experience. I tried an aromatherapy pillar called Citrus Harmony and I didn't care for it at all. It didn't burn very well and I didn't really care for the scent. I really dislike it when that happens but, I have to report what I experience, good or bad.
A representative from Way Out Wax actually read my review months later and was appalled that I had such an experience with one of their candles. She offered to send me two travel tins and a new Citrus Harmony pillar with the hopes I have better luck... no strings attached. How utterly cool and I was actually happy to accept because I really dislike writing negative reviews. I think every candle "and" company deserves a second chance.
Wax out Wax specialize in Aromatherapy and I have to say, I have a fascination with the idea of aromatherapy... who wouldn't want to be relaxed, revitalized, energized, uplifted and (blah blah blah) when you're stressed out, tired or in need?...and all from a beautiful fragrance wafting through your house? I think that's an incredible concept. Honestly though, I still haven't found an aromatherapy candle or product that actually triggers those electrodes (or whatever you call it) in the brain creating those affects but then again... I've got a pretty hard head so that could very well be my problem. It's probably just not absorbing enough. ;-)
Way Out Wax has a beautiful website and I enjoyed browsing it. It's very easy to navigate with all their products laid out in a simplistic manner. Great pictures and descriptions and I really liked how their products were presented. They offer a variety of styles from votives, pillars, travel tins to small glass jars. Prices are very reasonable as well. I believe these candles are all soy made with essential oils.
The candle and scent I'm reviewing was a 6.7oz travel tin in the fragrance Orange.
What did my Orange Aromatherapy Candle from Way Out Wax Look Like?
My candle was a 6.7oz travel tin. There was a label on the entire face of the tin as well as the lid with pictures of oranges on it. The wax color was a natural white and my candle had one wick.
How did my Orange Aromatherapy Candle from Way Out Wax Smell?
Oh man... this fragrance was wonderful!! The scent description from the Way out Wax website is:
"An uplifting aroma that helps to relax and balance the spirit."
Just putting my nose up to this candle was enough to make my nose twitch but lighting it and letting the fragrance permeate my bedroom sent my nose clear into orbit. Oh man was it heavenly!! I could smell the orange but there seemed to be much more to this scent than just a plain orange. It was beautiful, soft and the perfect strength. It wasn't zesty like some orange scents can be, it didn't smell like orange juice or rind... it was (I'm admitting it)... uplifting which is a very "aromatherapy" term!
As far as scent strength... this scent wasn't super strong but a scent you definitely take notice of the moment you walk into the room. Did it make me relax and balance my spirit? I'm not sure. I think the idea of aromatherapy is so cool but I also wonder about the "power of suggestion" too. If any aromatherapy candle was to convince me though... this was the one.
Citrus lovers... one word... "wonderful".
How did my Orange Aromatherapy Candle from Way Out Wax Burn?
My candle burned pretty good. I had a bit of a struggle getting a complete melt pool but once I did, it burned great. Didn't really have to trim my wicks much either.
Overall opinion of my Orange Aromatherapy Candle from Way Out Wax:
I am so glad Way out Wax sent me this fragrance because I loved it! I enjoyed it so much, it took every bit of willpower I had not to go on their site and buy 20 of these candles in this one scent alone. It was very hard restraining myself but when you open up your linen closet and you can't even fit your normal bathroom essentials in there because it's stuffed full of candles and melts... well, then you've got a serious problem! Or I should say "I" have a serious problem! My poor husband practically has to store his shaving cream and toothbrush in his sock drawer because my scented obsession is already encroaching in his space. Thank goodness he's the indulging sort or I don't know what I'd do.
With that said, I think Way out Wax have changed my mind about their candles and also opened my eyes (and nose) to the world of aromatherapy. I can genuinely say I'm looking forward to trying more of this brand. I'm not sure if I'll venture into trying their pillars again but I will try more of their votives, glass jars and travel tins for sure.
If you love aromatherapy, give this company a try and definitely try their Orange scent if you love citrus. It's beautiful and not your average orange.
