What did my Rein candle smell like?
I was pretty lucky to get my hands on the “ultimate” man candle and was really excited to review it. Man candles (as you may or may not know) are quite the rage right now and I’ve been meaning to spotlight more on Candlefind. So when I received a review request from the owner of Rein Candles asking if I would be interested in reviewing their signature candle… I was intrigued and of course said yes.
Their candle is quite unique and I say “candle” as in singular because they only sell one. One candle, one scent. The candle itself is very masculine… it’s solid black, has black wax and even sports a black wick and black wooden lid. On one part of the candle, you’ll find a deer antler emblem embossed into the glass which is their signature logo. Other than that, there is no label anywhere else except for the warning label on the bottom of the candle. The entire experience from receiving the package to opening the box and candle had a luxury feel to it. You can tell this is an expensive candle and the owners took great pride in its design.
Rein Candle’s tag line is – “Candles for the polished man.” I like that. The presentation of this candle is definitely catered towards men and I can’t help thinking… what a perfect gift this would make. Another unique feature to this candle line…. out of every 150 candles sold… once contains a Rolex watch. I think that’s pretty cool and a masculine spin on jewelry candles that are so popular right now. It’s kind of exciting! Do I have the one? It’s almost like the gift that keeps on giving. I get a candle… a delicious scent that burns for days plus the anticipation of waiting to see if there is a prize in store at the end. I can totally see the lure of these types of candles.
Onto the candle…. The fragrance I’m told was a blend of vanilla and lime which happens to be two of my favorite scents. I couldn’t find any info on their website about the fragrance so I was somewhat confused. Smelling the wax for the first time, it didn’t smell like vanilla or lime to me… instead, it reminded me of a light and masculine smoky scent. It smelled like the wood lid. It was different and nothing I could really pinpoint directly.
I decided to burn this candle in a small bathroom to start out and it ended up being a good call. The scent after several days of burning remained pretty light and the aroma was perfect for a small room. The scent itself remained the same… a light and masculine smoky “wood” scent.
This candle was gorgeous to watch burn too. With the solid black vessel and wax… it was quite striking as it was burning – especially in the evening. Alas… there was no watch at the end of my candle – but should you try one… you may be the lucky winner. Who knows?
My candle burned great. I did have to keep the wick trimmed with each lighting but that’s totally normal. A+ on burn performance.
Closing to my review:
I’m so glad I finally had the chance to experience a genuine “man candle” but don’t let that title fool you ladies… if you love masculine scents, purchase one, either for yourself or as a gift. It’s a cool concept I’ve always been intrigued by. I’m also a fan of masculine scents so I plan on trying many more as I find them.
As for this specific candle… I really enjoyed it but found it more of a candle for ambiance rather than fragrance so should you wish to try this brand, I would stick to a small room to burn it in. My only other critique would be there really wasn’t a whole lot of info about this candle on their website such as the fragrance, what size candle it is etc. It left me with questions. Other than that – a great experience.
Happy candle hunting!

I had a hard time rating this candle since I wasn’t quite sure if it was scented or not. If it wasn’t and I learn more after this review posts, I’ll adjust the rating accordingly. Until then, I’m rating it based off my experience.
