Candlefind.com, the site for Candle loversIntroduction to my review of Pine Point Candes:

Small companies are probably my favorite avenue when purchasing candles these days. I've had really great experiences... great customer service, excellent products, fast shipping... and for the most part, I would say small companies aim to please and are eager to show us, "the" ultimate candle connoisseur what sets them apart from big-wig companies they continuously have to compete against. Frankly, I love candles no matter what, no matter where or how big the company, but I gotta tell ya... I enjoy the whole package and experience with smaller companies the best... I love the fact that I'm helping small businesses and Scented candle review, candlefind.com, the site for candle loversthat each one of the products I order is hand made with meticulous care and pride (fresh for me). Another aspect I love is the custom fragrance blends these candle makers come up with. It's amazing what recipes they create and it's so much fun experimenting and trying fragrances you never would have or ever dreamed existed. It can be risky sometimes (because you never know what you're gonna get) but I think it's worth it.

With the above said... reviewing Pine Point Candles was long overdue and think if you haven't tried this company yet... you've been missing out on some great candles and melts! This has been a company under the "radar" so to speak and I have no idea why it's taken me so long to review them.

This site has a bit of something for everyone... I counted 7 different style jars as well as a variety of melts and plenty of accessories and bath and body products to please just about all of us. But, the main force to be reckoned with are their candles and melts. They are excellent, strong and man are their prices reasonable and I mean very reasonable!!

This site carries over 71 fragrances on their scent list... which is pretty decent... maybe not huge by many standards but let me tell ya, once you've read their menu, it won't matter. This site has some very unique scents that are worth looking at. Here are some scents just to name a few... Awapuhi Seaberry, Gee your hair smells terrific (talk about bringing back memories!), Hummer Adventure, and Loves Baby Soft. If you love the smell of suntan lotion, they have a scent called Beach Bobbi Brown that I'm told is a dead on duplication. I even tried the scents Ivory and Coast Soap in melts and man did they smell strong and accurate. I know many of you browsing their scent list will be taken down memory lane, I know I was. ;-)
Pine Point Candle review
When Ann, the owner of Pine Point Candles asked if Candlefind would do an official review, I immediately said yes and knew this was a review I wanted to personally do. I've wanted to try their candles for a long time and what better way to do so than an official review... I was excited! The scents I chose to review were Awapuhi Seaberry, Issey Miake, Frosted Pink Cupcake and Coconut Lemongrass.

Pine Point Scented Candle ReviewWhat did my candles from Pine Point look like?

These candles are SO cool! What a surprise it was to open up my box and find such unique jars! I didn't specify what candles I wanted to review and just assumed they would be regular apothecary jars. Boy was I wrong!! Ann sent me these adorable candles that looked exactly like little round ceramic pottery jars. They were 12oz in size and so darling. (the picture on the left really doesn't do this candle or color justice) The color of the jars was a swirled texture of maroon and off white. Each jar had a label tied with twine around the neck of each jar so you could easily remove it before burning. Very cute!

The wax color on Awapuhi Seaberry was a light purple, Issey Miake purple, Frosted Pink Cupcake was pink and Coconut Lemongrass was white. All my candles were double wicked.

How did my candles from Pine Point Smell?

Awapuhi Seaberry
I chose this scent for one reason... I loved the unique name. It sounded so pretty and fresh. Here's the scent description:

Awapuhi Seaberry scented candle review, Pine Point Candles"Awapuhi is Hawaiian for white ginger. Imagine a fresh ocean breeze with a whisper of floral accompanied with a perfectly mastered blend of melons and berries. This is truly an island sensation!"

I usually don't like floral scents of any kind, even to review (I do make occasional sacrifices though) and decided to bite the bullet with this scent. After burning this candle and melting melts for 4 days straight, I've decided what a unique fragrance this is and am so glad I decided to try it...it was very lovely. It was soft and feminine and truly enjoyable and thought it an ideal blend of floral and fruit. I could smell the floral part (white ginger) but with the melon and berries added to the mix... the overall scent was sweet and heavenly, almost like a light and powdery perfume. I could Awapuhi Seaberry scented candle review, Pine Point Candlestotally see this scent in bath and body products since I found it so feminine and pretty. Every time I walked into the room I had the melts or candle going in, I found myself stopping and taking deep breaths in appreciation. If you love soft florals, this is a scent you'll truly appreciate.

On a scale of 1-10, I would give this candle an 8+ for scent strength. It doesn't overwhelm you... it's more soft and subtle and yet you smell it the moment you walk in the room. It's so delicate and sweet. The melts were also wonderful and I felt were stronger than the candle (pretty normal). I would say the 12oz candle fragranced my entire master bath and partially my bedroom... the melts however traveled to multiple rooms.

Overall, I loved this scent and totally recommend it. I think both floral and anti-floral lovers would like this scent as much as I did.

Issey Miake

Oh man, how I love this cologne! An old flame of mine wore this scent for years and I always loved it. I actually wear it myself (to this day) and every time I have it on, I'm sniffing myself in appreciation and always get compliments (and it's a men's cologne too). When I saw Issey Miake was available in a candle, I couldn't believe it and Issey Miake Colognewasexcited to find out how it compared to the real thing.

When I opened the lid to this candle for the first time, I smiled... it smelled exactly as it should! Here's the scent description:

"L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme will give you hot flashes and heart palpitations! Heady, invigorating, yet fresh and eclectic. Base notes of Verbena, Tangerine, and Cypress."

This is a "heady" scent and very fresh. You can easily make out the verbena, tangerine and cypress and man is that a fantastic blend!! It's very masculine, fresh and energizing to me but definitely has a "cologne" type of vibe to it. If you don't like cologne scents, you probably won't like this one. If on the other hand you like earthy/fresh type scents, then I totally recommend this fragrance. I just think it's so beautiful.

Scent strength... this candle gets a 9, melts a 10. This 12oz candle fragranced two solid rooms and saturated both rooms with fragrance. The melts were equally as fantastic and very strong! This is not a scent for the soft hearted... no no no... this is a scent you want to melt or burn when you want to be enveloped and saturated with fragrance. It's not a "gag me" scent but definitely strong and one you can smell no matter what. Loved it!!

Frosted Pink Cupcake

Oh man!! This scent had me craving a real piece of cake... I'm constantly amazed at how realistic these bakery scents can be!! Here's the scent description:

Frosted Pink Cupcake scented candle review, Pine Point Candles"Smells like a freshly baked vanilla cupcake, loaded with pink and white swirled fluffy butter-cream frosting. A Pine Point Candles original!"

If you love bakery scents and if you have a weakness for cake smells... you'll love this fragrance. I'm really into cake scents right now and my mouth watered when I had this candle burning. So much so, I found myself staying within smelling distance of the aroma just so I could smell it every chance I got! So far, this bakery scent fetish I'm in hasn't caused me to want the real thing (hence added poundage) but man are my nose and senses lovin' bakery!! You could smell the vanilla cake and butter-cream frosting so acutely, when my daughter's friends would walk in the house, they would stop (take in the aroma) and ask what I was baking. My house has been officially declared as the best smelling house ever! I love it!

The strength of this candle was pretty good. I would rate the strength an 8+ on a scale of 1 to 10. Probably the same for the melts. The fragrance traveled but was medium in strength. This is a very realistic scent and full of buttery cake goodness... everyone that walks in your house will think you've been baking all day. LOVED this scent and highly recommend it!

Coconut Lemongrass
Coconut Lemongrass scented candle review, Pine Point CandlesI love anything lemongrass... coconut, I could take or leave but when I saw this fragrance on Pine Points scent list... I instantly knew I wanted to review this fragrance. This was such a different and unique mix and one I've never come across till now. Here's the scent description:

"From Thailand - an exotic touch of coconut and lemongrass. A clean fresh aromatic blend."

I absolutely LOVED this fragrance! I liked everything about it... it was tart, sweet and Coconut Lemongrass scented candle review, Pine Point Candlesso fresh and uplifting to me that for the first time in a very long time... I didn't want this scent to end! This was a perfect blend of coconut and lemongrass. One did not dominate over the other and I loved that because in my experience, coconut tends to dominate everything it's blended with. Not this one... this scent was smooth, sweet and tart all at the same time... kind of like a lemonade blend but with a tropical twist. LOVED IT!!! I think this would be another great bath and body scent and perfect for summer.

Both candles and melts gave about a medium+ throw. I highly-highly recommend this one if you order from this company.

Candle flameHow did my candles from Pine Point burn?

My candles burned great. I did have to be diligent on trimming my wicks which is normal. All my candles burned very clean, no soot or smoke.

Overall opinion of my candles and Pine Point:

In closing, I should have reviewed this company a long time ago and am so glad I finally did. I really liked my candles... I thought they were strong, burned consistently and the ceramic jars were so adorable. These are candles I will definitely be buying in the future. I think it's safe to say I fully endorse this company and highly recommend them. I loved all 4 scents I reviewed and that doesn't happen very often.

Melts from Pine Point CandlesThe only beef I have would be their shipping charges and that's basically just a personal gripe. I usually avoid sites that don't offer some sort of shipping break but hey, I've ordered from this company twice and keep coming back so that says something (they're worth it!). I also think their prices on candles and melts are super reasonable which offsets any shipping charges. $8.99 for a 12oz candle (and a cute unique one to boot) is a smokin deal!! Melts are 5 for $3.90... they also have really cute decorative melts that are 5 for $4.50.

All in all, I'm very impressed... so much so that I think this company has worked it's way into my favorite picks for paraffin candles and melts. Definitely give them a try and don't let this hot weather stop you either. I certainly won't!

Happy candle shopping!
