Cupid's Mischief Cake

The name sold me before anything else. It just sounded fun and with "cake" thrown in the mix, it was a no brainer buying this one. Here's the scent description:

"Uh oh! Cupid's arrow didn't miss its mark this time! For those in love, we offer this luscious cake as a reminder of falling in love, again &...again...&.... again.........."

It's a good thing I put this in my cart before reading the scent description since it doesn't really tell me anything other than it sounds like a fun scent and it smells like cake. Ohh-kay.... I can live with that since I love pretty much any and all cake scents known to man. So on my very first batch and very first cold sniff, I liked it.... it smelled very bakery and cakey for sure, yum!! Melting it was a whole nuther ballgame.... double yum!!! This scent really becomes bolder once you start melting it and reminds me of freshly baked cupcakes with a twist I couldn't quite pinpoint. I don't know if it was a frosting component or what but it has a bing to it that adds a little something extra. Almost doughy or something. I don't know how else to explain it other than it smells like a funky cake and it's gooooooooooooooood! It's a very warm and inviting scent and definitely bakery. I liked it!!

Fudged up Yellow Cake

This scent has been newly added to my "must haves" from LOL and it's a "house blend" meaning Allison created it herself from scratch, YUM-YUM-YUM!!. Here's the scent description:

"My favorite! Fresh baked yellow cake topped with chocolate fudge icing!"

I am totally completely addicted to any and all cake scents... the stronger the better! This scent ROCKS!!!!! Thank god you can't chunk out from melts but let me tell ya, smelling this stuff really gets that crave thing going so be careful... these scents are super addicting. I looooove the yellow cake and I dare say, I think I even smell a smidge of almond in the mix and the chocolate.... Ooooh-yyeaaah...the chocolate icing was delish! Fudged up Yellow Cake was the perfect blend of cake and chocolate but what I liked the most about it was, the cake scent was definitely the dominant scent with just a hint of chocolate. I loved that because that's exactly how a real yellow cake with chocolate frosting should smell. The cake is definitely the star of the show with everything else a side kick. At least to me anyway....

In closing... loved this fragrance and totally recommend it if you love your house to smell like freshly baked yellow cake.

Hey Sugar

My very first experience with the scent Hello Sugar was from Bath & Body Works which is where this scent originates from. Tutti Dolci (from B&BW also) had a Lemon Meringue scent that was to DIE for but discontinued it so when Hello Sugar came out and once word spread how similar they were... I was all over it! It's only offered in their bath and body line consisting of body wash, a foaming cream mousse, or body spray. I bought every single one sniff unseen since the scent description indicated a sweet bakery lemon and if you know me... sweet lemons are my Achilles' heel. I am obsessed with them! After receiving my order, I knew it was the best buy I could have made.... this scent ROCKS!!!!!!... and let me tell ya, I smelled goooooooooood!! You know you smell good (or at least you think you do) when you keep inhaling yourself all day. I gotta give Bath & Body Works props.... they know their scents and create some really incredible ones. Hello Sugar I most definitely consider incredible.

What would a lemon crazed addict do for such a scent in a candle? Maybe give an arm or a leg? Beg? Promise your first born child? No, okay, thankfully, I didn't have to do any of that because LOL now carries it and luckily, Allison would never require such a sacrifice. I suspect these candle company owners are just as addicted to scent as we are but their addiction comes in the form of fragrance oils. I will always encourage such practices since their addiction ultimately feeds mine.

Allison named her version Hey Sugar out of respect for the original name and trademarked owner. Here is the scent description from the LOL Candles website:

"A fun, flirty tart lemon sugar w/ a note of crust mixed in. YUMMY!"

So, how was LOL's version? Very good, very-very good! This was as close as you could get to the original B&BW version, so close, you would have a hard time picking the differences apart and man is this scent strong! I'm talking knock your socks off strong! I had these melts going in my great room and it overpowered everything else in my entire house including the downstairs scents. Loved it! Wasn't a gag me, choke me, burn my eyes kind of strong... just a steady stream of delicious bakery lemon Nirvana! This is so far in my book, THE perfect melt in your mouth sweet lemon on the planet with the perfect touch of bakery crust to give it that freshly baked warmth. This scent has lasting power too. I started these suckers midday, had them going all day and night and when I woke up the next morning... I could still smell the fragrance. That's pretty rare and even more rare was that I actually left it going all morning and afternoon the next day. I'm usually a switch-my-scents-out three or 4 times a day kind of gal. This one held me hostage for 2 days and that my friends, is a record.

Definitely buy this scent if you love lemon scents.... It's spectacular!!!!!!

White Cake

This is one of my all time favorite cake scents, ever! I loved it upon first whiff and from then on, I was hooked. I think Allison even keeps several pounds on hand just for me. I should probably be embarrassed over learning that but I'm not. I think it's hilarious! Here's the scent description from LOL's site:

"The BEST, realistic smelling cake scent! Like cake mix right out of the box."

Totally! Totally right on the money. It's a very realistic cake fragrance and that's what I love about it, no spice notes, no frosting, nothing detours from this scent... you just get that warm fresh from the oven cake smell and it's absolutely divine! My house always smells like I'm baking a cake whenever I have this fragrance going. It's simple and perfect. I highly recommend this one.

Sugar Bits

I would venture to say this is one of LOL's signature scents that every bakery lover must try! It's amazing! It's wonderful and sooooooo different and unique. Here's the scent description:

"Sugar cookie crumbs drizzled with caramel, topped with brown sugar, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar."

I think I first ordered this scent without even reading the scent description. A lot of Candlefind members who post on our forum love this scent and talked about it so much at one point, I just said screw it and shoved a dozen in my cart. Doesn't take much to get me intrigued and frankly, any excuse to shop for scented goodies is a good excuse.

After melting Sugar Bits, I fell in love and since then, have bought it by the pound loads and in every conceivable bath and body product since I want to smell like a Sugar Bit too!! Why relegate your favorite scents to your house?... uh uh! I want to take it everywhere and man oh man do I get compliments when I wear it. It's hilarious to watch... it first starts out with people looking around, then sniffing the air and then you hear, "do you smell that?" or "what is that, it smells so good?" (I just secretly smile and think, oh yeah, it's MEEEEEE!!) And then when they figure out where it's coming from, I get, "May I ask what perfume you're wearing?" B&B lovers.... You know how it goes. I love it!!

Back to my review... to me Sugar Bits is a complex scent as you can't really pinpoint any one ingredient in the scent description. It's definitely bakery, I can smell the cookies but not sure if I can make out the caramel but I think I can smell the brown sugar.... hard to tell. Suffice is to say... it's good! It's strong and rich... it's a room filler and very delicious and unique. I say definite two thumbs up with the highest of recommendations!
