Introduction to my Guest Curator Adventure with Scentchips:
Calling all scented melt lovers!! Boy do I have a company to share with you. I received an email a few weeks ago from a marketing rep from ScentChips asking if we were interested in becoming a guest curator. I had no idea what that meant so I asked… what’s that? Basically, they wanted to send me one of their gorgeous melters – they let me pick out – along with a bunch of scents so I could create my own blends just to see what I would come up with. What a cool idea!
Scentchips is a family owned and operated business established in 1979, and are located in San Antonio Texas. I read on their website, they are the revolutionaries in the home fragrance industry by creating the fragrance melt concept over 33 years ago. That’s pretty cool and a bit of trivia I didn’t know. The concept behind Scentchips is all about creating your own fragrances. They carry over 80 different scents so the blending possibilities are endless.
And their melts…. so darling!!
The wax chips are all in different shapes and they’re made to be tiny for easier blending. And that’s the idea… to blend whatever fragrance you fancy to create. They even have a recipe book to help guide or inspire you depending on how you choose to go. I looked through the recipe book to get some ideas but opted to put it away. I wanted to use pure imagination to create my own blends just to see what I could come up with and oh my goodness… they sent me a TON of different scents to play around with. I counted 54 different fragrances. Having that many scents to work with was a little daunting but I was totally up for the challenge!
So now it’s time to talk about their melters. Oh my goodness are they unique and beautiful and they’re manufactured exclusively for their melts. If you are an avid melter like me… you HAVE to check them out. They are so pretty. My favorite part… a nice variety of them have a touch-sensitive base so you can control the intensity of the fragrance from low, medium to high. As an avid melt lover… I cannot tell you how amazing that feature is for me. Depending on your mood or the room you’re scenting, you can choose the intensity by simply touching the base. I just love that and of course I made sure to choose a melter that had that feature.
I have to say, I had a tough time deciding which melter to choose… they are all so pretty but I ended up choosing Onyx Celestial… pictured to the right. I loved everything about it from the 3 setting feature, the coloring, the design and the cool dish. When I received my package and opened the melter, I am delighted to report it’s even more beautiful in person. I of course wanted to test the 3 setting feature so I immediately plugged it in and tried for myself and – it works!! Perfectly. All you have to do is touch the unit and it goes from light to medium to high and then off and you can visually see it so you’ll know exactly which setting it’s on. SO COOL!!
So far, I am very impressed with the entire experience I’m having. Now it’s time to create my fragrances! What will I do? First step, I laid all 54 fragrances out and categorized them by type. Floral, bakery, fruity, fresh, spices, exotic etc… phew! I stood over all the scents trying to decide which direction I wanted to go and decided to tackle floral first. It’s my least favorite category but I thought it would be fun to blend them into something totally different… tapering down the floral.
Here we go!!
