If you've read any of my past reviews, namely my last White Barn Candle review, then you know I'm on a White Barn Candle kick at the moment, only because I bought just about every scent they make. (I caught a sale, what more can I say?)

White Barn Candle Company is a huge name out there and have an excellent reputation for highly fragrant candles. This is my second review of this line with plenty more to come. I know these candles are really popular because we've received tons of requests for more reviews. Well, we aim to please so watch for more coming your way.

White Barn Real Essence candles are definitely attractive. They're stylish apothecary jars with slightly rounded lids. There is a ribbon glued around the lip of the jar that says White Barn Candle Co. The ribbon doesn't detract from the candle at all. The wax color is white and there is one wick.

Warm Vanilla Sugar is a dreamy scent and utterly beautiful to me. I've tried my fair share of duplicates and nothing compares to the real McCoy in my opinion. The scent description on Bath & Body Works website for this fragrance is:

"Vanilla, coconut and basmati rice are blended with a touch of soft sandalwood in this rich and cozy scent."

I had never heard of basmati rice before so I "Googled" it and this is what I found out:

Basmati rice means the "queen of fragrance or the perfumed one." This type of rice has been grown in the foothills of the Himalayas for thousands of years. It's perfumy, nut-like flavor and aroma can be attributed to the fact that the grain is aged to decrease its moisture content. Basmati, a long-grained rice with a fine texture is the costliest rice in the world and has been favored by emperors and praised by poets for hundreds of years.

I've long wondered what made this fragrance so unique from other vanilla scents and I now know it must be in part to the Basmati rice. The sandalwood is also a nice element. This fragrance has a perfume quality that's hard to describe but whatever it is, it's a winner. Warm Vanilla Sugar also makes a great soap, body lotion and perfume and I know is one of Bath & Body Works most popular scents. Just breathing this fragrance throughout my home makes me understand why, it's absolutely beautiful.

Even if you dislike Vanilla, you should smell this candle next time you're in a Bath & Body Works store. To make a point, a really good friend of mine despises anything remotely vanilla and I mean anything. I'm not even allowed to burn vanilla scents when she comes over, she's that anal. I had this candle burning all day long (and didn't tell her what it was) and when she came over, the first words out of her mouth were, "Wow, I can smell your candles outside in the driveway, it's beautiful... what are you burning?" I almost had a coronary! She didn't even know what hit her and when she found out what the fragrance was, she couldn't believe it.

The scent throw I thought was light to medium. I had two candles burning in my great-room and the fragrance is definitely subtle. I think that's how it was intended to be. To me, Warm Vanilla Sugar is a romantic fragrance, if it were too strong, it wouldn't have the same effect.

I personally think these candles would burn better if they were double wicked. With one wick, it's a struggle for the wax to melt all the way to the edge. I did have to use my wick dipper on occasion to push leftover wax into the wax pool so nothing was wasted. Other than that, my candles burned fine. No soot or smoke.

Overall Opinion of Warm Vanilla Sugar Candle & White Barn:

I loved Warm Vanilla Sugar and will definitely buy this fragrance again. I can't believe I hadn't burned it before considering it's such a popular scent. I will say this, I'm really starting to like White Barn Candles a lot. So far, the fragrances I've tried have been awesome and I'm really looking forward to trying them all.

White Barn Candles are on the expensive side so the best time to buy them is when you can catch a sale. I've smelled just about every fragrance and they definitely pass the smell test so any or all are worth a try.
