Old Virginia Candle Co is pretty close to Yankee when it comes to popularity.  Not quite as huge as Yankee but pretty darn close.  You can find these candles in many stores across the country and they also have an online store making home shopping simple and convenient.  They also have free shipping when you spend 39 bucks which is a piece of cake for me!

I'm sort of a creature of habit and have therefore stuck to buying their triple scented collection.  I like getting three scents in one candle and compared to my favorite smaller online companies, these guys are expensive.  I usually purchase their candle of the month special which are always their triple scented candles so that works out well for me.

I've really lucked out with all the candles I've purchased from Old Virginia and will probably buy the majority I've tried again.  I do plan on spreading my wings so to speak and will be trying candles from their Farm Grown collection and also more WoodWick candles to review.  I'm REALLY liking those folks, you've got to try one when you get the chance.  Today however, I'm reviewing Martini, a triple scented concoction that I very much enjoyed.

My candle was an 8oz apothecary style jar with a flat glass lid.  It's three layered, the top layer was red, the middle was blue and the bottom layer was green.  My candle had one wick.

How Did My Triple Scented Martini Candle Smell?

I did enjoy this candle and all three fragrances but I must say that the first layer was by far my favorite of the three.  Here is the description for all three scents in their Martini candle.

• Cosmopolitan: A sparkling combination of lime zest and tart cranberries with a touch of sugar.
• Blue Raspberrytini: Captures the scent of fresh, sweet raspberries with just a hint of blueberry.
• Appletini: A festive fragrance with sparkling citrus and crisp green apple notes.

Martini's are very much "in" these days so I couldn't pass this one up.  I'm more of a margarita gal myself but do enjoy an occasional martini now and then. Drink flavored candles are generally a winner in my book since they usually smell fruity. Martini was goooooooood.  :-)

The first layer was Cosmopolitan and indeed a very zesty and fruity scent. You don't need to be a psychic to know I loved it!!  The lime mixed with tart cranberry made it a perfect fruity aroma for me.  This was my favorite scent of the three. If this scent were available all by itself, I would buy it in a heart-beat.

The second layer, Raspberrytini was a little more subtle and not as tangy. To me, it smelled just like a Blue Raspberry popsicle my kids devour that always manages to turn their entire lips and mouth a bright blue.  It smelled sweet and fruity but more on the candy side.  It was good but didn't really WOW me. If this scent were available alone, I'm not sure if I liked it enough to purchase it.

Appletini, the last layer was a pretty good.  It basically smelled like an apple scent, nothing else. For some reason, I expected a martini "zing" of some sorta, some other flavor added making it different. I don't know, maybe my expectations were too high.  In any case, it was a nice apple scent, nothing more.

I like Old Virginia candles and will always buy this brand.  For a huge commercial company, they're pretty good. My only wish upon a star is that they would double wick their jars. I usually buy their big 26oz jars and sometimes one wick is not enough and it's a real struggle getting the wax to melt all the way to the edges. Other than that, I have no complaints. Their big jars last forever and you definitely get your money's worth.

For those of you who have never tried Old Virginia, give them a try. When they have their candle of the month sales, you can get some pretty good deals. It's hit and miss with some of their fragrances but for the most part, they're worthy of purchase.
