I was shopping for a few items at my local grocery store the other day when I came across a little kiosk of cute fall candles.  "BING" What else could possibly stop me in my tracks?, I don't know about you but I have to smell any candle I come across, even in a grocery store.  The name on the banner was Langley Candles and I figured if my local grocery store picked them up for fall, they must be a fairly well known name even though I hadn't heard of them.  This is also my first time burning a gel candle so I was excited to give these a try.

There were 3 scents to choose from, Candy Corn, Pumpkin Patch & Fall Leaves. Candy Corn all but gagged me, it was SOOO sweet. It was a really pretty candle though.  The color of the gel in candy corn is as clear as water with lots of bubbles and dozens of candy corns floating on the bottom and sides of the jar so the look is really cool!  I don't know if they're real candy corns but they sure looked like they were.  The orange candy inside that clear gel made all the colors so bold and gave a striking look to the candle.  If you like super sweet candles and love candy corn, I highly recommend this candle just for the cool Halloween effect. If the scent didn't gag me, I would have bought it just from the way it looked.

With that said, I did like the other two, Pumpkin Patch and Fall Leaves so not surprisingly, I bought them both.

Both Pumpkin Patch & Fall Leaves have that clear gel just like candy corn and for some reason, there are bubbles throughout the candle. It doesn't detract from the candle but instead, I think gives it more character. Pumpkin Patch has darling little jack-lanterns sitting on a bed of sand all around the perimeter of the candle. This is THE perfect Halloween candle as far as presentation goes. Fall Leaves has orange and yellow leaves floating around the perimeter. The look of both candles is so awesome. The bold orange colors really stand out inside that clear gel. Both candles are single wicked.

How Did my Pumpkin Patch & Fall Leaves Candles Smell?

To me, the scents of both Pumpkin Patch & Fall Leaves were very similar so I won't separate my reviews of each one separately. They both had a very strong cinnamon & spicy smell that seems to be a fall favorite.

I've been burning both candles all day today and I'm noticing several traits that must be from the gel. First, a melt pool doesn't seem to be forming like with wax candles. It's also hard for me to tell because of the clear gel... it all blends together making it hard to define. I also haven't had to trim my wicks at all. Not sure why but the wick has stayed down to a decent level so that was nice.

The scent of both candles has a strong cinnamon smell but it doesn't seem to travel very far. I'm burning these candles in my bathroom and the scent doesn't leave that room. The only time I can really smell the fragrance is if I'm right next to the candle. Although that would normally have bothered me, it didn't in this case because the whole packaging impressed me more than the fragrance anyway and that's why I bought them.

My favorite part about these candles is the effect when my candles are lit. It's unbelievable and I think all Langley gel candles will be the same because they're all clear gel. The entire candle lights up from top to bottom so the entire jar is illuminated with light. It even looks cool during the day but it looks incredible at night. The fall leaves & jack lanterns glow with illumination so the effect is quite fun and different. I highly recommend these for their decorative appearance.

I haven't burned both candles to the end so I'm not sure how they burn all the way through.  I've burned my two candles for 3 days non stop and they don't seem to be going down much. I do notice every morning when I light them that the wick does smoke for a few seconds and then tames down to normal. I don't know why it does that but after that, it doesn't smoke anymore.  I'm also noticing that the candle is burning straight down leaving a thick layer of gel around the jar wall.  Since this is my first experience burning a gel candle, I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

Overall Opinion of My Langley Fall Candles:

I'm enjoying my Langley fall candles and will continue to burn them through October.  I usually don't get into Halloween but my candles are definitely putting me in the mood.  The whole packaging is really clever and festive which is a fun change.  I went on Langley’s website and they offer lots of other gel candles that are just as unique and very cool looking.  I also noticed decorative Christmas candles too just like my fall ones.

Definitely give these candles a try if you want to bring a festive look to your home.  These candles were fun and beautiful when lit so as far as ambiance goes, they get an A+. Although these were considered scented candles, they weren't very strong, at least to me anyway. I could smell the fragrance if I was standing right next to it but that was it. That didn't matter to me though because I purchased them for the look rather than fragrance.  I will definitely be buying more Langley candles again in the future.
