My latest candle experience is from an online candle store called Cottage Hill Creations. They offer 5 different jar sizes in apothecary or hex style jars as well as votives and tarts in over 63 fragrances. All in all, that's a pretty decent selection and I had no trouble whatsoever choosing several fragrances.

I love ordering from these small candle companies because I enjoy the personal touch smaller companies provide. I find that each company is unique and special in many individual ways and such treasure troves full of yummy scents & delights. The fragrances I decided to sample from this company were, Red Velvet Cake, Night Romance, Lemon Pucker, & Pear Tart. Phew, that's quite an assortment.

What Do My Candles from Cottage Hill Creations Look Like?

All my candles were 10oz hex jars. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the labels on the jars, they were a little too big for my taste but that's personal. The background of the label matched the website background which was different. The wax color of Red Velvet Cake was red, Night Romance was purple, Lemon Pucker was yellow & Pear Tart was green.

How Did My Candles from Cottage Creations Smell?

To start off, I really didn't know what to make of this candle when I first got it. It's one of Cottage Hills best sellers so I figured I better try it to see why. When I opened the lid to smell it, my first reaction was, dude, this is strong! and scrunched up my nose at the strength. I was even a little apprehensive to light it because it seemed like such a rich scent (too rich in fact).

Plowing ahead, I lit it in my bedroom and waited to see what would happen. I came back an hour later and surprisingly, the throw was much softer than the initial sniff test cold. That was a good thing for me because had it been as strong lit, I wouldn't have liked this scent at all. You know what it reminded me of the most? Cake batter! Plain ol' runny cake batter that I still can't resist dipping my fingers into. That's exactly what it smelled like to me. The scent description on Cottage Creations website is:

"Cocoa, buttermilk, vanilla and sugar mixed with flour and eggs to make this incredibly rich scent. One of our best sellers!"

Cake batter all the way! The scent throw on my candle wasn't super strong which surprised me. My candle was small so I bet a larger jar would give a much better scent throw. I think any bakery scent lover would like this fragrance but if you're one of those that likes the smell of cake batter, you should try this scent for sure.

Night Romance:

Night Romance is a mixture of Mulberry and Lavender. That just sounded so different to me and I love Mulberry so I knew I wanted to try this fragrance. When I smelled it for the first time, I wasn't sure what to think because I couldn't pinpoint what I was smelling. I could make out the Mulberry but not really the lavender. Here is the scent description on Cottage Hills website:

"Mouth watering plump Mulberry's mixed with just the right amount of Lavender to relax you into that night of romance!!"

This was an interesting fragrance to me and definitely fell in the feminine category since it struck me as smelling "pretty". Once I lit it, I started noticing the fragrance immediately so the throw is very strong. Much stronger than the Red Velvet Cake candle I finished burning earlier and the candles were the same size. I can't put my finger on it but there has to be more to this fragrance than mulberry and lavender. My daughter says it smells like perfume. My husband didn't comment on it at all (so it obviously didn't stink or he would have said something) and I'm personally at a loss as to what I'm smelling. You'll just have to try it for yourself if your curious enough. It's not a bad scent at all, just unusual.
