What did my candle smell like?
I’ve been really into masculine scents this year and Smoky Water from Barn Candle Co fit perfectly into that category. I loved the color of this candle… the wax was a deep dark blue which made it all the more alluring for me. I love burning dark candles… they glow so beautifully. First sniff smelled very fresh and masculine… it didn’t really smell like cologne but it was definitely masculine.
Here is the scent description I pulled from Barn Candle Company’s site on this fragrance:
“A cool mountain river with rushing overtones of fresh musk and exotic smoky teak.”
After reading that description and then smelling this candle again… I did pick up on the smoky teak component. I liked it. The overall scent smelled manly but I’m having a hard time putting to words what exactly I was smelling. It didn’t really smell like cologne or after shave or anything else I could really tie it to… this is just one of those scents that you kind of have to experience yourself to know what I mean.
Because this candle was small, I kept it in a small bathroom where it stayed. Once lit, it took maybe 30 minutes to really start noticing the scent and once I did… it was nice. The scent stayed true… a fresh manly scent that really freshened up my bathroom.
Strength – on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this candle a 4. Even in a small bathroom, it gave a subtle scent throw. You could smell the fragrance loud and clear up close to the candle but it never really saturated the room or traveled outside the room it was burning in.
My candle burned great. No issues at all. Clean burning, no wasted wax, no wick issues. Perfect!
Closing to my review:
I enjoyed this candle, it was a really unique masculine scent so if that’s your thing, this would be one to try for sure. My only true criticism overall would be the strength it put out… it was pretty light. Maybe their larger jars would give a better scent throw… hard to know but it may be worth a try if you’re curious about this one.
My favorite part of this candle was how it burned. The wax, once melted glowed a gorgeous dark blue and it was pretty striking to watch. I love dark colored candles!!
I have one more Barn Candle to review in a holiday scent I’ll probably get to closer to fall so stay tuned on that one.
Happy candle hunting!
