I bought my usual gluttonous amount from this company awhile back with the intention of reviewing a candle, not tarts but it didn’t work out as planned.  I bought 4 jars (I confess 3 out of the 4 summer scents – I just couldn’t resist) with the intention of reviewing the only scent I didn’t consider a summer one (Deep Fried Ice Cream) I feel that even though I’m not “technically” reviewing this scent, I need to elaborate further on it for you because even though I didn’t like it, a lot of you might.

The first time I smelled this scent, I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it burning and I was right. It smelled way to sweet and strong for me, like thick maple syrup or even glazed doe nuts or something.  After I lit the candle, an hour later, I had to put it out because it was way too much.  I guess I expected something different.

I love Mexican food! It’s my favorite food ever.  I take my Mexican food very seriously so if I’m not blowing my nose after I’ve feasted, then it wasn’t worthwhile.  The crème de la crème to complete my bounteous meal is to order Deep Fried Ice Cream afterward.  I end up getting into a fork stabbing match with my husband because he never orders it but always eats mine (I hate that!)  Anyway, Deep Fried Ice cream is a big hunk of vanilla ice cream coated in honey then deep fried.  Then it’s drizzled in more honey and sits on a sugary piece of fried sweet bread with whipped cream all over it. YYYYUUUUM!!  That’s how my local restaurant makes it and that’s what I expected to smell.  I don’t know, I think that was unrealistic of me because although I love that dessert, I’ve never really taken the time to actually sniff it to know what it really smells like. Probably because I’m too busy stabbing my husband in the hand to protect my dessert.  I think I had an image of what it would smell like and this fragrance is not what I envisioned.  I’ll be sure to pay closer attention next time I order one.

So, that’s why I wanted to tell you about this fragrance.  I think if you like sweet maple syrup or super sweet caramel even… you would like this scent.  That’s what it reminded me of.

Back to the company… I found Soyyummy Candles doing a Google search.  They offer 100% all soy candles in various sizes to choose from.  I counted 114 fragrances total but don’t quote me on that because I may have miscounted.  I’m always on a mission to find great candles so I always order blindly and hope for the best.  I also order way more than I should because I have absolutely no self control.  I bought 8, 8oz candles (4 scents total) and close to 2 dozen tarts in various scents so I could try a bit of everything.  Being that it’s time to review Christmas Scents… I picked 3 with the proper theme to them.

Dude!!  I did not like this fragrance at all. It didn’t smell like cookies to me at all and I’m not sure what it smelled like but it was so bad, I emptied my tart burner and had to put the wasted wax in my outside garbage because it smelled so bad.  I’m really sorry Soyyummy but to me, this fragrance did not smell like buttery shortbread cookies.  I like cookies just as much as the next person but this fragrance had a pungent weird smell that was not appealing.  Maybe it was my nose, I don’t know but if you want to try Cookies for Santa… maybe you’ll have a better experience.

This is supposed to be a Christmas tree scent.  To me, this scent didn’t smell like the classic Christmas tree I’ve smelled with other candles.  I also thought I smelled cinnamon mixed in it too.  As for the opinion of my “pine expert” (my husband)… he said it smelled like 100% cut Juniper wood with not a hint of pine.  Ironically, he had just chopped up a Juniper tree from our property for firewood. Being the pine snob that he is, he brought me a chunk of it and said, “smell this and then smell your wax, I know I’m right!”  They were both extremely similar... I couldn’t believe it.

So, although this scent wasn’t bad (it was very nice), I’m having a hard time rating it because it really didn’t smell like a true Christmas tree to me.  I’ve been burning so much pine & Christmas tree scents lately that this was a welcome change and I really enjoyed it because it was so different.  I think for you folks out there that want to try something different and like woodsy smells, you would probably like this scent.  It’s still very festive and Christmasy to me and I definitely do smell cinnamon, I don’t care what my “pine expert” says.

Christmas Cheer:

Out of these three Christmas fragrances, this was my favorite and I would easily buy this again.  It was spicy, fruity and very festive. Even my husband liked it.  The scent description for this fragrance is:

“Spicy combination of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with light fruity notes.”

I would say heavy fruit notes with lots of cinnamon & spice.  The wax color is a deep beautiful purple and an excellent fragrance if you want to try something aside from the usual Christmas tree scents this season.  Don’t let the name fool you either because I think it’s a great all around winter scent, not just for the holidays.

I absolutely LOVED this fragrance.  I don’t know what kind of fruit makes up this candle but it’s wonderful and the spices really liven it up.  The name Soyyummy dubbed this candle is right on because it so festive and fun.  You’ve got to try one for yourself and you’ll see what I mean.  Definite two thumbs up from me and one I’ll buy again and again!!

Overall Opinion of Soyyummy Candle Company:

I plan on ordering more from this company as I think they’ve got some great scents and reasonably priced candles.  I’m drooling over their summer fragrances and can’t wait to burn the ones I bought in a few months.  This company is fairly new and I think off to a good start.  I’ve only burned a few fragrances and have tons more to try but everything smells pretty good with the initial sniff test and that’s always a good sign.  With the exception of Cookies for Santa, I think this company is worthy of shopping on.

There’s plenty of jars sizes to choose from and tarts are a great price for you tart lovers out there.  It’s a great way to sample all their fragrances before investing in jars.  Watch for more reviews from me on this company… I’ll definitely be posting more.  Merry Christmas everyone and happy shopping!!
