Introduction to my Scentables review:
Scentables has been a long-time favorite of mine. With a nice variety of scents in different scent categories (bakery, floral, beverage, fruits, nature, etc!), there is always something tasty and delicious ready to be burned.
As usual, receiving my order was the highlight of my week. The candles were packed with care and even after being shipped all the way to Hawaii from Oklahoma, they were in excellent condition. In this order I received my usual lineup of suspects — mostly bakery related scents. Because let’s face it… bakery scents are the BOMB. Don’t even bother arguing with me. We both know I’m 100% correct. This review centers on Creme Brulee and Orange Chiffon. Super scrumptious bakery scents!
What did my candles from Scentables look like?
Scentables has really nice, upscale jars. The smaller 6.5 ounce candle comes in a clear jar with a base that tapers out. The lid fits snugly inside the round opening on the top and the label is clear with the company name and candle scent in nice black font. The label is easy to read and stands out against the soft yellow color of the candle. The candle itself is uncolored so you just get the natural color of the soy wax and the fragrance oil. As a result, some candles are darker than others. But all have an elegant look that would be equally at home in a dorm room or a million dollar mansion.
What did my candles smell like?
“The aroma of sweet orange mixed with creamy French vanilla. This fragrance is good & strong!”
Let me start this by saying this candle drove my poor husband insane. We are avoiding sugar and all things delicious and the scent of orange chiffon cake wafting around the entire house nearly did him in. There is no doubt that this is an orange cake candle. It smells *just* like an orange cake. With creamy frosting. The scent is fresh and yummy but not too sweet. And though it was super strong (enough to be smelled down the driveway) it is also light and airy. Like a summer cake. Simply scrumptious!
“A rich aroma blending creamy vanilla custard covered in caramelized brown sugar.”
This scent is much sweeter than the Orange Chiffon. You immediately get the caramel’y scent but then you get a whiff of almond undertones. Not the chemical, plastic smelling almond – this is more like fresh almond milk. Sweet and nutty. Mixed in is vanilla and creamy custard. Just like cracking the top of a fresh-from-the-kitchen creme brulee. Mouthwatering. Comforting. Delicious.
How did my candles burn?
Both candles have excellent wicking and burn beautifully with large melt pools. They burned evenly and straight down. No tunneling. No smoking. No soot build-up. The scent throw was nothing short of amazing. Of all the candles I have burned, these probably rank #1 on the list. And best of all, even when you burn to the very bottom, you *never* get the burnt smell that so many other candles take on toward the end. These smelled yummy to the absolute end. I am always sad to see the end of a Scentables candle. But excited because that means I get to place another order!
Closing to my review:
I ADORE candles and scents. You could definitely call me an addict or fanatic. My candle drawer currently has 34 candles from various companies and more melts than I can count. (don’t judge…) Of all these candles that I currently have and with all the candles I have ever purchased or been gifted, Scentables is my absolute favorite. The scents are rich and complex. The throw is remarkable. The jars are elegant. I cannot think of a single thing about these candles that I do not absolutely love. Sure, I’ll keep buying candles from other places as well, but my pinch hitter and MUST HAVE is Scentables. My candle collection is nowhere near complete with these awesome gems.
And now I’m off to bake a cake. Just kidding. Maybe…
Happy candle hunting!
