Did My "Smell of Spring" Candle from Aromatique Affect My Allergies?
I woke up the next morning SO sinusy. My head was killing me, my face was puffy, my eyes felt burny...I was in sinus misery. At first I didn't realize why I felt this way, but then I thought..."Uh-oh. What if it's from my candle?" I started to wonder if there were fragrance oils in the candle from real flowers.
I couldn't believe I didn't think the day earlier that this candle might affect my allergies. Duh! After all, my mom and I were raving over how real it smelled. As I mentioned earlier, I just assumed that Aromatique's candles were scented with imitation fragrances. Apparently my Smell of Spring candle was not. I later heard from a few sources that Aromatique's candles are supposedly 100% natural. For a candle to be 100% natural, it must be scented with essential oils. However, some of the scents offered by Aromatique, for example Pear and Pomegranate do not exsist as essential oils, so I've come to the conclusion that some of their candles are 100% natural and some are not.
When I found out my candle was scented with natural oils, I couldn't believe what I did to myself. Since I burned the candle in my bedroom, the aroma had the chance to fill the whole room for hours that night. I slept with my windows shut, so basically it was like I spent the night in a non-ventilated, heavily stocked flower shop...my worst nightmare! I learned my lesson.
Final Opinion and Recommendations
Even though my Smell of Spring candle by Aromatique affected my allergies, I highly recommend this candle to those of you who love the smell of flowers and very strong scented candles. This is the perfect scented candle to light for your Easter celebration. Your family and friends will not believe you don't have fresh hyacinths in the house. I guarantee, this candle will make your house smell like a flower shop.
Although Aromatique candles are a bit more expensive than other brands, I would still pay the extra few bucks for one in the future. Since my candle seemed to burn so slow, I think you would get a lot of life out of just one candle.
As you might guess, I do not recommend this candle to anyone who is allergic to flowers. I do, however, recommend that you give some of other scents from Aromatique a try. They offers a wide variety of natural scents that sound wonderful. I want to try some of their fruity scents like Summer Sorbet and Mango Melon. I'm sure I'll be ok since flowers won't be involved. :-)
