Introduction to My "Smell of Spring" Candle by Aromatique...
My least favorite candle scents have always been floral, but since I'm here to please my visitors, I ordered a couple floral scented candles to review for spring. One of the candles I bought was a 10 oz. glass container, soy candle by Aromatique in their "Smell of Spring" scent.
I ordered my candle from ScentsandSprays.com, an e-tailer of luxury candles. Here's the scent description:
"An enchanting array of spring flowers scented with the fragrance of hyacinth."
My First Review of a Luxury Candle...
Ever since I started Candle Find, I've been reviewing candles that are considered affordable. I've heard of so many luxury candle brands that are popular among celebrities and candle connoisseurs, but until now I didn't have the nerve to spend the extra money. I consider Aromatique a semi-luxury candle brand. Here's why:
My 10 oz. Aromatique candle cost $18.50. That's not too bad when you compare it to other luxury candle brands. However, to help you understand why I consider this a semi-luxury candle, a 14.5 oz. jar candle from Yankee is $17.99. You get more wax for your buck with Yankee, but I wanted to see if more expensive means better smell and slower burn.
Why Don't I Like Floral Scented Candles?
Before I get to the scent review of my Smell of Spring candle, I want to explain why I don't like floral scented candles. I can sum it up in one word....allergies. I'm basically allergic to Spring. The beautiful blossoming flowers, the grass, you name it. When I smell anything with a floral scent, like candles, or lotion, it just reminds me of sinus misery.
When I bought my candle from Scents and Sprays, I assumed it was scented with imitation fragrance oils. There was no indication on their site that the candle was scented naturally so I figured my allergies wouldn't be affected. I was still a bit hesistant, but I wanted to get over my "fear" of flowery scents because I want to write reviews for all of you on a wide variety of scented candles.
My Candle Arrived. What's it Look Like?
When my package arrived from Scents and Sprays, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I ripped it open right away. I just couldn't wait to see and smell my first luxury candle. I grabbed my Smell of Spring candle and was instantly impressed with it's appearance.
Aromatique has several styles of candles. My candle was from their Old World Candle line. The candle was in a stylish clear glass cylinder and topped with a hammered iron lid. The lid gave it that old world, rustic feel. My Aromatique candle just had that luxury, expensive look to it. (See photo to right.)
