Carolyn's Thoughts on Yankee's Home Sweet Home Scent...
I really didn't know what to expect from my pinkish, reddish Home Sweet Home votive candle from Yankee. I had never tried this scent before, but I figured since it's the Fragrance of the Month for November and since it's called Home Sweet Home, it must be a cozy-type scent appropriate for the colder months of the year. On Yankee's web site, they describe it as "Sugar and spice and everything nice are the ingredients of this inviting potpourri - Uplifting."
I lit my Home Sweet Home votive in my living room and waited with anticipation. As the scent poured into the room a few minutes later, I was very pleased. It reminded me of my grandmothers house. She used to simmer a sugary and spicy type potpourri on the stove at night when I came to visit. The smell of Mom-Mom's simmering potpourri made her home feel like a safe haven for me... a cozy place where I always felt loved. The scent from my little Home Sweet Home votive reminded me of that feeling.
Yankee's Home Sweet Home scent gave off a warm smell of sugar and spice. There was a hint of cinnamon, but it was not too dominant. It smelled very much like a pleasant potpourri to me.
As with the other Yankee votives I've tried, this scent is light. I could only get the full body of the scent if I put my nose right over the burning candle. If you prefer highly scented candles, don't give up on this Yankee scent just yet. I suggest you buy a few Home Sweet Home votives and burn them all at once in the same room. That should give you a much stronger scent. Also, I think if you bought a large jar candle, the scent would be much stronger as well.
To sum up, Home Sweet Home is a great scent for the winter months. It's just perfect for curling up with your favorite blanket and enjoying a nice cup of tea or a great book. If I were having friends or family over, I would definitely light a Home Sweet Home candle to help create an inviting atmosphere. All in all, I give this scent from Yankee 2 thumbs up.
