Carolyn, Editor of Candle Find Introduction to Aromatherapy of Rome Review...

In early December, I got an email from a woman named Megan, the representative of the web site AORCandles.com.  AOR Candles is the official e-tailer for the Aromatherapy of Rome TM candle line, which is made by the Aroma Candle and Scent Company.  Megan kindly offered to send me some Aromatherapy of Rome candles to try.  I am never one to pass up free stuff, so I took her up on her offer. I was excited for the package of candles to arrive at my door because I had seen the AoR brand mentioned on the web back when I was researching for Candle Find.  I always wondered what the candles were like, so this was my chance to find out.

When I got my package, it contained two 3x4 pillars.  One pillar was scented in Bergamot Currant and the other in Lavender.  This review focuses on my Bergamot Currant candle.  (I will have a review up on Candle Find of the Lavender pillar in the near future.)  Even though the scents of my pillars were different, they looked exactly the same.  My pillars were both white with a smooth, simple texture and wrapped with modern brown Aromatherapy of Rome labels.

Before I go any further, I feel I have to give a mini-lesson to those of you who don't know much about aromatherapy candles.  I just want you to understand what they really are since this review focuses on an aromatherapy candle.  So listen up class. (lol)  Candles that are said to be "aromatherapy" candles are made with essential oils.  When inhaled, these oils can have a positive effect on your mind, body and spirit.  I like to experiment with different aromatherapy candles to see how they affect my mood.

So what are essential oils you ask?

Essential oils are the scents that are extracted from the actual source of a scent in nature.  For example, if a candle is scented with the essential oil from lavender, the scent is extracted right from a real lavender flower. In comparison, synthetic fragrances that are used in most candles on the market are man-made to replicate the actual scent of a lavender flower, like Yankee Candles. I always prefer aromatherapy candles since I'm actually smelling what nature intended me to smell.

Whenever I burn a candle that is scented only with essential oils, the scent is noticeably milder compared to a candle made with synthetic fragrance. It's still a wonderful scent that fills the room I am burning it in, but I never feel like it's an "in-your-face," overpowering scent.

Aromatherapy of Rome candles are made with 100% essential oils. Right away, this stood out as a positive to me because some candles on the market that claim to be "pure" aromatherapy candles are actually made up of a mixture of essential oils and synthetic fragrance.
