Pomelo Lime Candle – Pure. Clean. Soy review
By Christina Rylan
Brand: Target – Pure.Clean.Soy candle
Type: 4oz Tin
Fragrance: Pomelo Lime
Scent Strength: Very light
Introduction to my review:
I have always been attracted to citrus fragrances so when I saw this cute green tin at Target… I immediately had to smell it. Once I did, I knew I wanted to review it… it smelled so fresh and citrusy. That’s one of my favorite aspects of reviewing for Candlefind… I can buy candles to my hearts content with zero guilt since I’m reviewing it all. The brand itself was – Pure.Clean.Soy – and interestingly… it’s manufactured by Illume, one of my favorite luxury brands! Now I know why I was so attracted to this candle. The info says the wax is made from a food grade parasoy blend. The wax felt soft and creamy so that sounds pretty accurate. Now that I know Illume manufactures this brand, I’ll be purchasing more.
This candle was really cute. It was small (4 ounces) with a green label wrapped all the way around the tin. The scent name “Pomelo Lime” was in the center. The lid was a lightweight chrome that lightly sits on the top. Very clean and simple. The wax was white with one centered wick.
Mmmmm!!! This candle smelled so wonderful!! Fresh and sweet lime!! So clean and refreshing. I wish I had a scent description to post with this but I couldn’t find one. All I can say is it smelled like a sweet and sugary lime with hints of vanilla or something sweet. I wasn’t smelling a straight up citrus lime, it had some sweetness to it. Time to light my candle to see how it performs!! I had a feeling this candle was going to be a room filler…
… and boy oh boy was I wrong. I lit this candle in a small powder room with the door closed and every time I went into the room to smell the fragrance, I could barely smell anything. If I put my nose up to the candle, only then could I smell the aroma. What I could detect… a wonderful, clean and sweet lime… it smelled just as it did cold. The fragrance was just very-very faint. So disappointing. Lime/citrusy scents are usually pretty strong but not this one. Major bummer.
My tin burned pretty mediocre. It did struggle to get a full melt pool with each lighting so it did tunnel a bit. A good ¼” of wax was left around the edges. No wick issues and no soot so that was good.
Closing to my review:
This review started out so promising and ended in disappointment. I was pretty sad since I had such high hopes for this candle. It sure smelled good and sold me with its fresh and clean aroma but it didn’t come through once I burned it. The fragrance was really-really light, even burning it in a super small room.
I have one other fragrance I purchased to try from this same line so we’ll see how that one does… stay tuned for that review coming up.
Happy candle hunting!

I've tried this candle as well and agree that it was lightly scented. It smelled great though at the store. Thankfully it was cheap.

I vastly prefer candles with a mild scent so this candle makes me very happy! The scent is nice and it doesn't make me feel sick after a while. I bought the bigger candle that comes in a jar. The jar looks great. I'm going to try and buy another one once I've burned this one down, but fortunately that doesn't seem like it will happen soon. It's lasting very well.

so true. i'm always drawn to target's cutesy candles both because of the packaging and the price but i agree -- every time i fall victim to a weak scented candle (oh well at least they still look pretty).
