Review of Fun & Flirty Scented Candles from Wickit Candle Co.

Introduction to my review of fun and flirty scented candles from Wickit Candle Co: Are you looking for a way to get in touch with your feminine side?  Read on! Today the scents we’re sniffing can help you reach that goal.  Theses candles are sweet, flirty and super girly! This time around, I’m  reviewing candles from Wickit Candle Company. Their website is one you will remember! The neon colors, along with the wild, wavy graphics are eye catching. The scent list is not huge, but it has some interesting blends.  One I missed for this review and I may need to go back for, is called “PMS” (chocolate nut brownie). The site has limited offerings, so there is no clutter, no confusion. You have a choice of 22 oz candles, wick trimmers, candle lamps, aroma beads and bath salts.  That is about it!

How do my candles look? Since there is only one size, my three candles are in the same style container.  They are tall, clear, modern cylinders, with flat silver brushed metal lids.  They have a fairly large, square label on the front with the company name.  It also has the phone number in pretty big type - which may be great for marketing, but detracts a bit from the appearance of the candle. The candles are a blend of paraffin and soy and  - make my day - they are double wicked, necessary for these big containers!  They have colored wax: Diva - soft pink Celebrity - hot pink Steel Magnolias - white

How do my candles from Wickit Candles smell? Diva "Blends of vanilla, cotton candy and caramel with undertones of berries and citrus. Our very girly candle!" This is a close cousin of  the Pink Sugar fragrance and it is a soft, candied version. The cold sniff is cotton candy and berries and yum! That makes it a luscious scent, and I bet a lot of teenagers will buy a  candle scented like this. It brings to mind all kinds of girlish images; pink sprinkled cupcakes, ballerinas, glittery nail polish, Hello Kitty… When I opened the door to the testing room I was met with  a fairly strong burst of sugary sweetness.  (Redundant, you say?) These candles are big enough to give you a worthwhile scent pool.  The scent filled my 16 x 16 testing room.   I really enjoyed the fragrance - and I imagine that this is close to what you smell being an operator of those swirly cotton candy machines.  A summertime dream job if it was only up to my nose!

Steel Magnolias "Serene yet sultry, an intoxicating floral from the south" We floral lovers tend to be in the minority.  That is understandable - some floral blends  are strong enough to make bees cross-eyed. And the perfume notes?  Wowie.  When they are added to a strong floral fragrance, it can be way too much. No worries here! This scent is a clean and crisp floral.  It is the type of floral that is classy,  feminine, and spirited - like the women of the movie by the same name. You won’t be run out of the room with thick, sweet floral notes in this fragrance, it reminds me of a lily and rain scented blend. It is reserved…and classy!   The throw was also moderately strong, once again fragrancing a 16 x 16 room.

Celebrity "A tantalizing blend of strawberries and champagne. Will truly make you feel like a star!" This was the lightest scented of the three.  It was fine for a large powder room. Although the scent description names strawberries, my nose picked up a very interesting fragrance that was not a straightforward strawberry.  In fact, the “berry” note I smelled reminded me a lot of the Cranberry Chutney scent made by that big, well known candle company. If the Steel Magnolias candle was  Julia Roberts with her elaborate updo, (it was the 80’s after all!), in her classic, off the shoulder, satin wedding dress -  in comparison,  Celebrity is the pop star of candles!  Think Katy Perry and pink hair, in a flippy, flirty, lacey dress!  This scent is the fun one, sweet yet spunky!

How do my Wickit candles burn? I must say that these are clean burning candles - not one bit of soot as long as I did not let the wick get too long! (Do a little trimming on the wicks, as they tended to get quite a big flame if you forget to pay attention, and then you will have little carbon nobbies to nip off.) The melt pools went almost across the top - there was a small spot that delayed melting on one until I pushed the wick that way a bit (one wick was slightly off kilter) - and all was well! One thing to watch, the light pink candle wax got a little orange tinge to it where it was sitting with the sun hitting it.

Final thoughts on Wickit Candle Company: I loved the classic look of these candles.  They're large so they have a good scent pool, and  for me, large is good. :) ( I often cheap out and get a smaller candle then end up disappointed in the throw.)  The double wicks help pump out scent and I also like the paraffin/soy wax combo Wickit uses.  I also enjoyed testing the scents. After a season of heavy, spicy fragrances, these three were a welcome change.   Is it time for a little girlfriend bonding? Let me make a recommendation!  Plan a “girls night in”…do the pedi, eat cookie dough ice cream right out of the carton and queue up your Netflix with a string of chick flicks.
