Avery Jordan scented candle reviewsIntroduction to my review of The Palm Beach Candle company:

May I have the envelope please?

…The winner in the category of - “amazing-package-presentation-that-makes-you-so-giddy… it- keeps-you-from-unpacking-the-candles-just-so-you-can-look-at-the-fab-packaging” - is…

The Palm Beach Candle Company!!!

Whoooppee!  This vendor rocks in the presentation department!   The hot pink and lime green graphics (and tissue papers) are sure to catch your eye - and when you’re finished checking out  all the neon colors in the packaging -  then you’ll notice the cutestDrum rol..... island party girl sitting on a palm frond on the label.

Wait, wait, I am not done yet! - More packaging excitement!... The bottom of the white boxs the candles came in were decorated with a lime green satin ribbon with a pink flower sticker - and it has a glitter center!

Whew! I am just a little too excited! I am all about presentation and am thrilled to start out a review like this!  It is true, though, it will be hard for me to tear apart all this cuteness and get down to the goods.

So, let’s stall… and talk about the website for a sec - it is pretty straightforward.  The usual left side menu contains the scoop - and the scents are listed by sections, like “exotic” and “blooming florals”.  Bakery lovers, do not despair - there is a section for you, too!  As always, I look for a unique scent that I will need to go back after later - and this time it is will be “Victoria’s Corset”.  Hmmm… I can not begin to imagine…!

The website has scents listed in categories and also alphabetically, which I really appreciate.  I really don’t like scrolling through every category until I find a fragrance I am looking for. Take “Sultry Socialite” - just what category should a gal look under
to find that? I rest my case.  One more “good thing” - when you look at the candle order page it rates the strength of the fragrance.

The website also has the usual necessary items - order tracking, shipping info, etc.  But get this!  There is a fun page with Palm Beach Barbie and - Sugar Daddy Ken! What a hoot! I love little surprises like this! Wax shopping is fun, but little treasures like this add to the enjoyment.  Linda, the owner, knows how to get your attention and catch your eye!

Speaking of Linda, she is another candle lover that started making candles as a hobby.  She said she had the “passion for luxury candles but not the funds to support them”. (Sound familiar?)  She uses  a Para / Soy blend and recycles and reuses as much as possible, believing in companies being eco responsible. (Hooray for Linda!)

What do my candles and melts from Palm Beach Candles look like?

The candles I have are glass tumblers, clear with straight sides.  Palm Beach Candle Company candle reviewThe labels are transparent.  My melts are the plastic cups with lids.  (Great for a pre-melting sniff!)

The containers have clear labels with the Palm Beach name and scent name.  Simple, but high quality.

How did my Palm Beach candles smell?

Coconut Macaroon

"A sweet buttery baked macaroon, made with rich almond paste, toasted coconut flakes and just a kiss of citrus zest. This scent has that "just out of the oven smell"

I started with the bakery scent - Linda said it was one of her Coconut Macaroon scented candle from The Palm Beach Candle Companyfavorites.  That should be a seal of approval, don’t you think?

The candle has a big toasty coconut scent, and after burning for awhile I could smell the buttery cookie part.  The combination made it a true macaroon scent. It was strong enough to moderately scent a mid sized room.

The tart was melted in a tealight melter. It lasted quite awhile,  almost 2  tealights.  The tart cup is good sized and you could probably cut it and use half at a time.  The scent was a little different than the candle.  Although it started out as toasty coconut, the almond scent seemed more pronounced in this one. This tart was pretty strong!  Too strong for the small room I started it in!

Banana Orchid Flower

"An exotic and intoxicating blend of fresh bananas, dark rich vanilla and lush white orchids with a hint of dark amber"

The cold sniff is a vanilla-banana.  Once it is burning, as expected, the banana comes out as the most prominent, and my nose did not get very much of the orchid, but I could pick up a little trace of amber. I did not think I could smell the orchid part - but I decided to check out a different banana tart and compare.  The “non-orchid comparison banana” tart had an abundance of vanilla and even sweetness that reminded me of marshmallow. Banana Orchid Flower scented candle from The Palm Beach Candle CompanyThe testing scent, Banana Orchid Flower, was less sweet, so perhaps the floral note helps make it a banana with a little more attitude.

The throw on this candle is soft, it lightly scents the smaller testing room.  One nice thing to note is that the scent lingers.  I tried the candle in several rooms, the best being about 8 x 8. When I finished, I closed the door - and a few hours later when I opened the door, I still could smell some nanner!  This tart is the lightest of the group - it is a nice soft banana, again it is not as sweet as a plain banana scent.  This tart also was a shorty - I cut it into 2 and melted half in a 24 w electric, then half in a tealight melter.  It did best in the electric as it burned off very quickly with the tealight.  The scent is soft enough, this one would probably be best left whole.

Moonlight Sonata

"This is one of my favorites, very soft and sensual! A refreshing fruit fragrance jeweled with cranberry, raspberry & citrus notes with a touch of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla & Moonlight Sonata scented candle from The Palm Beach Candle Companyviolet."

Whoa, Nellie!  Just one word for this one - Sultry!  OK, two…sultry and sexy!  The two outstanding scents are the cran/raspberry and sandalwood. This is a very full scent, deep and rich, reminding me of big full moons, deep burgundy colored velvet gowns, and that misty stuff that hovers over the top of lakes and ponds.

The candle has a hefty throw, it is a little too strong for the powder room, mildly scenting a medium testing room. I went ahead and cut the tart in half and tried it - in this scent, half was plenty strong.

Fairy Dust & Twinkle Toes

"Fairies dancing in the moonlight, full of life and energy. Fairy dust floats from their wings with a scent of citrus and grapefruit with notes of juicy orange, tangy lemon and zesty lime."

The name of this scent threw me off track.  With a such a girlyFairy dust & Twinkle Toes scented candle from The Palm Beach Candle Company name, it had me thinking of candy-sweet or pink sugar fragrances.  Boy, did I get that one wrong!  The cold sniff is a very perky fruity scent, my nose found a scent strong in a mango-peach scent - and ha-ha on me!  Neither of those notes are listed.  But when  this one is burning, it brings out the citrus blend, and I swear there is still a little tropical fruit hiding in there.  Again this was too much for the powder room, but it had a soft throw in the medium size room.  The same is true for the tart - (and I was still getting the scent of tropical grapefruit! Really!)

Candle flameHow did my candles and tarts from Palm Beach burn and melt?

The candles burned very cleanly.  Only one, the Twinkle Toes, left a little wax on the side.  Otherwise the melt pools developed quickly, fully and there was no soot.  I was negligent on one and did not trim - and like most candles, the wick mushroomed a bit at the end. So, be sure and use “good candle hygiene” and trim your wicks and those situations should be avoided.  The tarts melted fine in both the tealight melter and the electric melter, and harden up nicely so they can be popped out when frozen.

Over all thoughts about Palm Beach Candles?Thumbs Up for The Palm Beach Candle Company

I am a fan!  From the clever packaging to the complex scents, a lot of thought and care has gone into the development and production of Palm Beach Candles. I melt and burn quite a few tarts and candles, it is always a joy to find a company that not only has unusual scents, but has fun with their marketing.  I look forward to trying more of these candles and tarts…. designed to be “Hip… Fun… and Fragrant“!

Happy candle shopping!

~ Avery
