Avery Jordan's scented candles reviewsIntroduction to my review of scented candles from Memory Lane Candles:

The company in the spotlight today is Memory Lane Candles.  Let’s make sure the spotlight is focused and no bulbs are out - these are some really fab looking candles!

One of the first things I think about when shopping for candles is their presentation.  Memory Lane scores a gold star, their candles are very attractive.  Using the squared apothecary, they have a deep forest green label with gold script and a gold dragonfly centered at the top of the label. There is a gold stretchy cord that holds labels on the aromatherapy containers, and the label explains the blend.  The effect is eye-catching.

The Memory Lane site is an easy one to look at, too.  At the time of the review, it is decked out for autumn - and those sunflowers and  gourds go nicely withWoman with a scented candle their deep green logo.

I like the layout of the site - there is a  ribbon menu at the top with dropdowns.  And wowie, this scores big with me - there is a page on the scent list that gives you all the scents; the descriptions, colors, and what size candle come in that scent.  Somebody was thinking, here! (We just need one more column for the Mini Melts.)  There is a nice mixture of scents - and you know me, I always am looking for the unique!  How about Crystal Pool, or if that doesn’t do it for you Oma’s Haus just might do the job!

We have already discussed how my candles look, but let me add that the Plumeria is a bright lavender, the Ginger Lime is soft lime, and the aromatherapy are natural soy.  The standard candles are the largest and they have double wicks.

How did my Memory Lane Candles smell?

Paradise at MidnightPlumeria

Site description:  Plumeria.

There are no surprises here, no mystery scents - it is a straightforward Plumeria - and in the melt form, it has a very strong throw. It easily covers a room and seeps out the door.  The candle is softer, as usual, but it still does a good job of mildly scenting a room about  15 x15 feet in size.

Ginger Lime scented candle reviewGinger Lime Twist

Site description: An invigorating blend of ginger with a twist of lime

This is right up my alley!  Sometime this combo has the lime and the ginger duking it out, with the ginger winning, a bit too intense at times.  Despite what the description says, this one gives my nose more lime, and I prefer it this way.  In fact, when I opened the door to take a sniff, my first thought was “lime popsicles”!  Of course, the ginger finishes it out (that is the twist, in my opinion!)

Blissful Haven  (Aromatherapy/Relaxation)

Site description: Pure essential oil blend of Lavender, Marjoram, Patchouli, Mandarin, Geranium and Chamomile.

The spa is open!  This is a pampering scent, the kind you find in those expensive places with the big fluffy white towels. The obvious note is the lavender, and the Marjoram adds citrus-spice,  while the Patchouli adds aBlissful Haven scented candle review new earthy feel to the standard relaxation blend.  This blend of herbs makes it a little edgier! This could be a welcome addition to many, as lavender can sometimes feel quaint and old fashioned,  this contemporary blend makes it feel modern.

As an aromatherapy blend, we are familiar with lavender, but marjoram is unique.  The essential oil is considered to be warming, soothing and fortifying. Geranium oil is said to have a balancing effect on the mind - its scent is floral with a hint of mint. This spa scent is designed to soothe the senses as it scents!

The candle is softly scented, I burned it in a large powder room with nice results. The tarts are quite strong, too much for the same size room! I used a tealight melter and moved it all to a medium sized room.  The fragrance notes in the tart matched the candle, only stronger.  They lasted a full tealigh, and  I loved the scenting, as I usually like clean, spa-type scents.  I feel pampered just smelling them, and this one did the job!

Revitalize

Site description: Frankincense, Tee Tree, Rosemary, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Sweet Orange.

When I break out a candle that smells like this, my family pulls out the tissues and chicken soup. A blend like this is just what I look for when my nose starts feeling a little stuffy - it is the closest thing to good old-fashioned Vicks, better suited for a grown up!  I like to get a few good inhales of this sinus clearing scent before the ability to smell goes away…

If you also associate the crisp, pungent scents of the Tee Tree, Rosemary and Eucalyptus with those childhood treatments, this candle and tart will give Revitalize scented candle reviewyou that comforting feeling, only without the sticky goo!  The candle started out strongly with eucalyptus.  After it had burned for awhile, I could smell the rosemary and tee tree.  My nose did not pick up the citrus. I used this candle in a larger powder room for the best results.

The tart was also pungent! Its “Immune boosting scent” was stronger, as usual, than the candle, and the herbal notes were pronounced.  (A truth in advertising moment came up as I finished this review - I woke up with a stuffy nose.  Without thinking,  I gravitated over to this candle and lit the remains .)

Aromatherapy benefits start with the tee tree, a sharp and fresh scent, thought to have immune-supporting properties, while the rosemary with its “sweet-woody/pine” scent blends to decrease fatigue and assist in healing (it was an early ingredient used by alchemists.)  Eucalyptus supplies a woody and medicinal scent and is said to support respiratory function.

How do my candles burn?

Problem free!  There is no soot, minimal wick trimming, and there is not wax left on the side of the glass.

Final thoughts...

Often times when I try to explain my scenting addiction, I talk about how I like to make my surroundings fresh, clean and interesting - and using different forms of scents help me achieve this.  The other reason scenting appeals to me has been captured in this company’s name - it is a trip down Memory Lane. Final thoughts

I think we all have scents that bring back times that are special to us.  One whiff of a Fruity Loops scent and I am 9 years old, in my jammies at a friend’s sleepover, the place where I could eat the forbidden sugary cereal! Most of us all take comfort in the autumn bakery scents as well, pumpkin pie or fall spices bringing back the memories of family gatherings as far back as we can remember.

It is very gratifying to be able to revisit those earlier thoughts and feelings.  Memory Lane knows this, and they have a large selection of very attractive candles, ready for all scent lovers to recreate their memories - and some that could help create future memories as well.

Happy candle smelling!

~ Avery
