Intro to my Yankee Candles Valentine's Day review:

Ahhh… love is in the air. Valentine’s Day! Love it or hate it, it’s sure to come every single year. Think red and pink roses, heart shaped boxes of candy, chocolate dipped strawberries. What’s not to love?? My most fond memories, though, are going to school and getting hundreds and hundreds of those little sweet candy hearts. Well, ok… maybe not hundreds. But you know what I mean! Will you be mine? True Love. Kiss me! Adorable!!!

Leave it to Yankee Candle to take those fond childhood memories and wrap them up in an attractive candle for our own sniffing pleasure. When I saw this cute little gem in the store, I simply couldn’t resist! And that, my scent-minded friends, is the power of Yankee Candles.

What did my Candy Hearts from Yankee Candle look like?

Did I mention this candle was cute? It was completely and utterly adorable. One of Yankee’s swirl candles with fairly equal amounts of white and red wax randomly swirled about. The jar label had a cartoon depiction of those darling candy hearts – I burn for U…U light my fire. OK, a little more adult themed candy hearts, but I suppose that’s the target audience, right? My candle was the 13.5 ounce size and was housed in the typical Yankee Candle apothecary jar.

What did my Candy Hearts Yankee Candle smell like?

On cold sniff, I smelled mostly tart black cherry with some soft, sweet vanilla cupcake notes. Sort of like smelling a cupcake with a rich cherry frosting. Yum! Here’s the scent description from the website:

"A perfectly luscious blend of sweet Black Cherry and rich Vanilla Cupcake!"

Well alrighty then! I lit this baby and waited for the candy heart magic. It didn’t take long before I was whiffing in some wonderful black cherry notes. Nice, strong and true-to-life. A very juicy cherry. Then I was ready for that vanilla cupcake scent to kick in. So I waited. And waited. And…well, you get the picture. No vanilla cupcake scent. Phooey! I think the black cherry was so strong, it overpowered the delicate cupcake scent. So while it was a great idea in theory, it just didn’t bear out the way I anticipated. This candle scent was strong, though, and easily filled the room it was in and somewhat outside of that space.

How did my Candy Hearts candle from Yankee perform?

True to form, my candle from Yankee performed well. I got a full melt pool in under an hour and the candle burned well throughout its lifespan. No smoking or sooting, but I did use one of Yankee’s IllumaLids. Keeping the wicks trimmed made for a better burn, but this is not a candle I had to baby-sit. I liked that aspect. A lot!!

Closing to my Yankee Candles Valentine's Day review:

As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I am reminded of people and things I love. One of the things I love? Why candles, of course! And Yankee Candle seems to always present something new, different and (most of the time) wonderful. I love the idea of this candle and it was so incredibly darling I fell head over heels. While the black cherry scent was wonderful and all I expected, I would have liked to be able to smell the vanilla cupcake, too. Oh well… who said love was perfect?
